Yamaha YZE 850T
Yamaha YZE 850T was a twin cylinder rally raid bike, produced from 1992 to 1993 with the specific task of winning the Dakar Rally, winning in both years with Stéphane Peterhansel. After a rule change for 1994 requiring production-based motorcycles, Yamaha produced the XTR850R based on the YZE using the production engine from the TDM850 and sold it to privateers for 140,000 swiss francs (approximately 3 million yen at the exchange rate of the time). The XTR850R won the Dakar a further four times from 1995 to 1998 (three times with Peterhansel and once with Edi Orioli). Dakar Rally
The Dakar Rally (or simply "The Dakar"; formerly known as the "Paris–Dakar Rally") is an annual rally raid organised by the Amaury Sport Organisation. Most events since the inception in 1978 were staged from Paris, France, to Dakar, Senegal, but due to security threats in Mauritania, which led to the cancellation of the 2008 rally, events from 2009 to 2019 were held in South America. Since 2020, the rally has been held in Saudi Arabia. The event is open to amateur and professional entries, amateurs typically making up about eighty percent of the participants. The rally is an off-road endurance event. The terrain that the competitors traverse is much tougher than that used in conventional rallying, and the vehicles used are typically true off-road vehicles and motorcycles, rather than modified on-road vehicles. Yamaha XT1200Z Super Ténéré
The Yamaha XT1200Z Super Ténéré is a motorcycle produced by Yamaha Motor Corporation, that was launched in 2010. The XT1200Z is the largest in a series of dual-sport Yamaha motorcycles named after the Ténéré, a desert region in the south central Sahara. It features a liquid-cooled four-stroke, fuel-injected parallel-twin engine with a 270° crank, which powers the motorcycle through a six-speed gearbox and shaft drive. The XT1200Z also features multi-mode traction control system and electronic throttle control (YCC-T) with programs to support off-road use, switchable engine mapping, and combined brakes with ABS. The Yamaha XTZ 750 Super Ténéré was a dual-sport motorcycle, produced by Yamaha Motor Company, Yamaha beginning in 1989. It was named after Yamaha's lighter, single-cylinder models, which in turn were named after the notorious Ténéré, Ténéré desert stage of the former Dakar Rally, Paris-Dakar Rally in northeastern Niger. The Yamaha XT660Z Ténéré is a dual-sport motorcycle manufactured from 2008 to 2016 by Yamaha. Stéphane Peterhansel (born 6 August 1965 in Échenoz-la-Méline, Haute-Saône) is a rally racing, rally driver from France. He holds the record for wins at the Dakar Rally, with 14 victories. In the 2018 season he was one of the official drivers of the Team Peugeot Total. Biography Peterhansel made his Dakar Rally, Paris to Dakar Rally debut in 1988 in the motorcycle category for Yamaha Motor Company, Yamaha, later winning the event in 1991, 1992, 1993, 1995, 1997, and 1998.
