Yakoruda Glacier
Yakoruda Glacier ( bg, ледник Якоруда, lednik Yakoruda, ) is a glacier on the west slopes of Dryanovo Heights, Greenwich Island in the South Shetland Islands, Antarctica situated west of Teteven Glacier and northwest of Murgash Glacier. It extends 3.5 km in north-south direction and 2.5 km in east-west direction, is bounded by Greaves Peak, Hrabar Nunatak and Crutch Peaks to the north, Lloyd Hill to the east and Kerseblept Nunatak to the south, and drains westwards into Berende Cove, McFarlane Strait. The feature is named after the town of Yakoruda in southwestern Bulgaria. Location Yakoruda Glacier is centred at (Bulgarian survey Tangra 2004/05 and mapping in 2005 and 2009). Lloyd Hill
Lloyd Hill is an ice-covered hill rising to 335 m in the southwest of Dryanovo Heights, Greenwich Island in the South Shetland Islands, Antarctica. The hill surmounts Teteven Glacier to the north and Murgash Glacier to the southeast. The name derives from 'Lloyd's Land', an early name for Greenwich Island. List Of Glaciers In The Antarctic
There are many glaciers in the Antarctic. This set of lists does not include ice sheets, ice caps or ice fields, such as the Antarctic ice sheet, but includes glacial features that are defined by their flow, rather than general bodies of ice. The lists include outlet glaciers, valley glaciers, cirque glaciers, tidewater glaciers and ice streams. Ice streams are a type of glacier and many of them have "glacier" in their name, e.g. Pine Island Glacier. Ice shelves are listed separately in the List of Antarctic ice shelves. Yakoruda
Yakoruda ( bg, Якоруда ) is a Bulgarian town located in the southwestern part of the country. A part of the Blagoevgrad Province, it is the seat of Yakuroda Municipality which is the north-easternmost in the province. The town lies in the Rhodope Mountains, along the Mesta River, 26 km west of the town of Velingrad. Yakoruda was proclaimed a town on 9 September 1964, having previously been officially classified as a village. A plurality of the residents are Muslim Bulgarians (Pomaks), the rest being for the most part Eastern Orthodox. McFarlane Strait is a strait lying between Greenwich Island and Livingston Island, in the South Shetland Islands off Antarctica. It is long and wide. The name appears on an 1822 chart by Captain George Powell, a British sealer, and is now well established in international usage. Kerseblept Nunatak (Nunatak Kerseblept \'nu-na-tak ker-se-'blept\) is a rocky hill of elevation 90 m projecting from Yakoruda Glacier on Greenwich Island in the South Shetland Islands, Antarctica. Crutch Peaks
Crutch Peaks is a dark, rocky ridge extending 900 m in north-south direction and rising to 275 m in the north extremity of Dryanovo Heights, Greenwich Island in the South Shetland Islands, Antarctica. The peak surmounts Yakoruda Glacier to the south-southwest, Teteven Glacier to the south-southeast, and Miletich Point and Kabile Island to the north. The feature was charted by the Discovery Investigations and named descriptively.
