''Xylophanes furtadoi'' is a moth of the family Sphingidae. It is known from Brazil. The length of the forewings is about 78 mm. There are probably at least three generations with adults recorded in June and October. The larvae probably feed on Rubiaceae and Malvaceae species. The Sphingidae are a family of moths (Lepidoptera) called sphinx moths, also colloquially known as hawk moths, with many of their caterpillars known as “hornworms”; it includes about 1,450 species. The Rubiaceae are a family of flowering plants, commonly known as the coffee, madder, or bedstraw family. Malvaceae, or the mallows, is a family of flowering plants estimated to contain 244 genera with 4225 known species. Well-known members of economic importance include okra, cotton, cacao and durian.
