Xu Enzeng
Xu Enzeng () (1896–1985) was a Republic of China politician. He was born in Wuxing, Huzhou, Zhejiang Province. A graduate of Nanyang University, he later went to the United States to attend Carnegie-Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. After returning to China, he joined the Kuomintang. In 1927, after the April 12 Incident, he became an associate of brothers Chen Guofu and Chen Lifu. He later worked alongside Dai Li at the Bureau of Investigation and Statistics. In March 1949, he left mainland China and immigrated to Taiwan, where he stayed for the rest of his life. Dai Li
Lieutenant General Dai Li (Tai Li; ; May 28, 1897 – March 17, 1946) was a Chinese spymaster. His courtesy name was Yunong (雨農). Born Dai Chunfeng (Tai Chun-feng; 戴春風) in Bao'an, Jiangshan, Zhejiang province, he studied at the Whampoa Military Academy, where Chiang Kai-shek served as Chief Commandant, and later became head of Chiang's military intelligence agency: the Bureau of Investigation and Statistics () or ("jūntǒng" (军统) in short) of Republican China (1912-1949). Gu Shunzhang
Gu Shunzhang (; 1903 – 1934), born Gu Fengming was an early leader, spymaster, and defector of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). Sent to Soviet Russia to train in espionage, Gu was chosen by Zhou Enlai to lead the CCP's first intelligence service, the Central Special Branch (). After he was captured by the Kuomintang (KMT), Gu defected and revealed to the KMT intelligence all he knew of Zhou Enlai's underground communist spy network earning him a reputation as "the most dangerous traitor in the history of the CCP." Early in his life, Gu worked at Nanyang Tobacco Factory, where he became an active participant of workers' movement, then of the Shanghai Trade Union and finally of the CCP. Qian Zhuangfei
Qian Zhuangfei (; 1895/96 – 1935) was a Chinese doctor, film director and Communist secret agent. After the Kuomintang (KMT) began its suppression of the Communists in 1927, Qian infiltrated the KMT secret service, and in 1931 intercepted a telegram reporting the arrest and defection of the Communist leader Gu Shunzhang. His quick reaction allowed the Communist leadership in Shanghai to evacuate, and he was credited with saving the lives of top leaders including Zhou Enlai, later the Premier of China. Zhou called Qian and his fellow agents Li Kenong and Hu Di "the three most distinguished intelligence workers of the Party." Qian was killed in 1935 during the Long March. Chen Lifu
Chen Lifu or Ch'en Li-fu (; 21 August 1900 – 8 February 2001) was a Chinese politician and anti-communist of the Republic of China. Chen was born in Wuxing, Zhejiang, China (modern Huzhou). In 1925, Chen formally joined Kuomintang (KMT) in San Francisco after receiving his master's degree in mining engineering from the University of Pittsburgh. On January 9, 1926, Chiang Kai-shek hired Chen as his confidential secretary. Chen was later promoted in 1927 to head the Investigation Section of the Organization Department of the KMT. In 1938, Chen was again promoted, becoming the minister of education. Chen held this position until 1944. Chen Lifu was the younger brother of Chen Guofu. Huzhou (, ; Huzhounese: ''ghou² cieu¹'') is a prefecture-level city in northern Zhejiang province (Hangzhou–Jiaxing–Huzhou Plain, China).
