Xinying Station (), formerly transliterated as Hsinying Station until 2003 and Sinying from 2003 until 2009, is a railway station of the Taiwan Railways Administration West Coast line located in Xinying District, Tainan City, Taiwan. Xinying District
Xinying District () or Sinying District is a district and the location of the second administrative center of the Tainan City Government in Taiwan. Sugar production was the most important industry in Xinying. History On 7 January 1946, Tainan County was established and Xinying Township was made its county capital. On 25 December 1981, Xinying was upgraded from an urban township to a county-administered city. After 25 December 2010, Tainan City merged with Tainan County to form a single special municipality, subsequently Xinying City became Xinying District and became the capital of Tainan City along with Anping District. Taiwan Sugar Railways
The Taiwan Sugar Railways is a industrial railway operated by the Taiwan Sugar Corporation. The railway was primarily used in the production of sugar by transporting sugarcane to mills, but some lines also provided passenger service. At its height, the Sugar Railways had an extensive network spanning of track, but since the Kuomintang's takeover of Taiwan in 1949, most of the infrastructure has been abolished and removed. The only line still used to carry sugarcane today is the Magongcuo Line in Huwei, Yunlin, though many other lines are preserved as heritage railways. Xinying Cultural Center
The Xinying Cultural Center () is a cultural center in Xinying District, Tainan, Taiwan. History The construction of the cultural center building began in 1981 and it was opened on 8 October 1983 as the Tainan County Cultural Center. On 12 August 1985, the interior facilities of the music hall began to be engineered and started to be used on 19 April 1986. In 2010, the center was entirely renovated and renamed Xinying Cultural Center. It was then officially reopened in June 2011. Tainan () is a railway station in Tainan, Taiwan served by Taiwan Railways Administration. Situated in centre of the old town square of Tainan, Tainan Station is the main station of the city and also one of the major stations along the western trunk line in Taiwan. The Shalun line, opened in 2011, allows through services to link the station with THSR Tainan Station. Overview The station has one island platform and one side platform. The current station structure opened on 15 March 1936, which included a hotel on the second floor (the only station of its kind in Taiwan). Taichung TRA Station
Taichung station () is a railway station in Taichung, Taiwan served by Taiwan Railways Administration. It is served by all TRA services along the route. History The station was originally constructed in 1905 in a wooden building architectural style and started its operation in 1908. In 1917, it was rebuilt as a red brick structure with Renaissance architectural style. On 16 October 2016, the elevated station was inaugurated in which the ground-level station was shut down. The first train that arrived at the elevated station was at 06:28. An island platform (also center platform, centre platform) is a station layout arrangement where a single platform is positioned between two tracks within a railway station, tram stop or transitway interchange. Island platforms are popular on twin-track routes due to pragmatic and cost reasons. They are also useful within larger stations where local and express services for the same direction of travel can be provided from opposite sides of the same platform thereby simplifying transfers between the two tracks. An alternative arrangement is to position side platforms on either side of the tracks. The historical use of island platforms depends greatly upon the location.
