Xiaonanmen Station (Taipei Metro)
The Taipei Metro Xiaonanmen station (formerly transliterated as Hsiao Nanmen Station until 2003) is an underground station on the Xiaonanmen line located in Zhongzheng District, Taipei, Taiwan. Station overview This two-level, underground station has an island platform and four exits. The station is surrounded by government buildings and educational institutions, serving mainly students and civil servants, therefore it remains relatively quiet for most of the day. In 2010, the station was used for the filming of a scene for a Taiwanese romantic comedy film, Au Revoir Taipei (一頁台北). The station was emptied for filming and a train was arranged specifically for shooting. Zhongzheng District (also Jhongjheng District) is a district in Taipei. It is home to most of the national government buildings of the Republic of China (Taiwan), including the Presidential Office, the Executive Yuan, the Control Yuan, the Legislative Yuan, the Judicial Yuan and various government ministries. Presidential Office Building (Republic Of China)
The Presidential Office Building is the work place of the president of the Republic of China on Taiwan. The building, located in the Zhongzheng District in the national capital — Taipei, was designed by architect Uheiji Nagano during the period of Japanese rule of Taiwan (1895–1945). The structure originally housed the Office of the Governor-General of Taiwan. Damaged in Allied bombing during World War II, the building was restored after the war by Chen Yi, the governor-general of Taiwan Province. Taipei Municipal Jianguo High School (, CKHS; formerly Chien Kuo from the Wade-Giles transliteration) is a public high school for boys located in Zhongzheng District, Taipei, Taiwan. Soochow University () is a private university in Taipei, Taiwan. Soochow University maintains a church and a Methodist minister in residence, though it may be considered a secular institution. Taipei Botanical Garden
The Taipei Botanical Garden () is located in the Nanhai Academy on Nanhai Road in Zhongzheng District, Taipei, Taiwan. The Botanical Garden covers an area of about 15 hectares and includes over 1,500 plant species. History The Taipei Botanical Garden was originally established during Japanese rule in 1921, although the garden itself has been in existence since 1896. It is maintained by the Taiwan Forestry Research Institute. In 1930, there were 1,129 species in the garden, serving largely academic research and natural sciences. However, the garden was deserted during World War II. After the war, the garden was rearranged and new plants were introduced. National Museum Of History
The National Museum of History (NMH; ) is located in the Nanhai Academy in Zhongzheng District, Taipei, Taiwan. After the Republic of China government moved to Taiwan, the National Museum of History was the first museum to be established in Taiwan. History A "National Museum of Historical Artifacts and Fine Arts" was established in a Japanese style building near the Taipei Botanical Garden in 1955. It was renamed "National Museum of History" in 1956 and the building was renovated in a five-floor traditional Chinese Ming and Qing palace style, with four floors for exhibition and staff offices, and one floor for storage. The Ministry of Justice (MOJ, ) is a ministerial level governmental body of the Republic of China (Taiwan), responsible for carrying out various judicial functions. History Taiwan's first Justice Ministry was created in 1895 under Japan's Ministry of Justice, founded in 1871 during the Meiji era, when Taiwan was under colonial rule. The Ministry of Justice was established in 1912 upon the establishment of the Republic of China, with the first Minister of Justice being Mao Zhuquan. Chunghwa Postal Museum
The Postal Museum () is a museum located in Zhongzheng District, Taipei, Taiwan. The museum encompasses seven floors and covers postal history, modern postal service, philately, and special exhibitions. History The museum opened at a location in Xindian Township, Taipei County on 20 March 1966, on the 70th anniversary of Chunghwa Post. Due to remoteness of the Xindian location and the lack of space, the museum was moved to its present location in the Nanhai Academy in 1984. Features The museum contains exhibitions about postal history and stamps, the modern postal service, as well as a special exhibition, a library, and a auditorium. Sun Yun-suan Memorial Museum
The Sun Yun-suan Memorial Museum () is a museum in Zhongzheng District, Taipei, Taiwan about former Premier Sun Yun-suan. History The museum building was formerly the residence for Premier Sun Yun-suan in 1980 until his death in 2006. The building was then designated as historical monument by Taipei City Government in the same year. It was opened to the public on 30 October 2014. Architecture The museum building consists of front garden with pond. Exhibitions The museum displays permanent exhibitions of his and his wife handwritten diaries, manuscripts, photographs and personal items. National Immigration Agency
The National Immigration Agency of the Ministry of the Interior (NIA; ) is the statutory agency under the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of China (Taiwan) which is responsible for immigration, entry and exit security, border services and registration of foreigners. The agency is headed by the Director General. The current Director-General is Jeff Jia-Jun Yang. The agency does not manage customs which is managed by the Ministry of Finance.
