Xu Xiang
Xu Xiang (; born February 1977 in Ningbo, Zhejiang) is a former Chinese private placement investor who served as General Manager of Zexi Investment (泽熙投资), a Chinese investment company. He has been variously called "China's Carl Icahn", "China's Warren Buffett", and "Big Man of Private Placement" (私募一哥) by fellow Chinese investors. On November 1, 2015, Xu Xiang was arrested by the police for insider trading. In 2017, Xu was sentenced to five and a half years in prison and fined 11 billion Renminbi, yuan. Career Early life Xu Xiang was born in Ningbo, Zhejiang in 1977. In 1993, Xu skipped the college entrance exams and started investing in stocks, using money from his parents as initial capital at China Galaxy Securities's trading hall on South Liberation Road in Ningbo. Anti-corruption Campaign In China
A far-reaching anti-corruption campaign began in China following the conclusion of the 18th National Congress of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) in 2012. The campaign, carried out under the aegis of Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Chinese Communist Party, was the largest organized anti-corruption effort in the history of CCP rule in China. Upon taking office, Xi vowed to crack down on "tigers and flies", that is, high-level officials and local civil servants alike. Hangzhou Bay Bridge
Hangzhou Bay Bridge () is a long highway bridge with two separate cable-stayed portions, built across the mouth of Hangzhou Bay in the eastern coastal region of China. It connects the municipalities of Jiaxing and Ningbo in Zhejiang province. Construction of the bridge was completed on June 14, 2007, and an opening ceremony was held on June 26, 2007. The bridge was opened to public May 1, 2008, after a considerable period of testing and evaluation. The bridge shortened the highway travel distance between Ningbo and Shanghai from to and reduced travel time from 4 to 2 hours. At in length, Hangzhou Bay Bridge was among the ten longest trans-oceanic bridges.
