Xu Ran
Xu Ran (born 10 October 1980) is a Chinese former professional tennis player. Xu played Davis Cup for China as a doubles specialist, featuring in 11 ties between 2000 and 2004, from which he won a total of five rubbers. He also represented his country at the 2002 Asian Games and reached the quarter-finals of both the men's doubles and mixed doubles. Tennis is a racket sport that is played either individually against a single opponent ( singles) or between two teams of two players each ( doubles). Each player uses a tennis racket that is strung with cord to strike a hollow rubber ball covered with felt over or around a net and into the opponent's court. The Shanghai Masters ( zh, , s=上海大师赛, also known as Shanghai Rolex Masters for sponsorship reasons) is a professional men's tennis tournament played on outdoor hard courts, and held annually in early October at the Qizhong Forest Sports City Arena in the Minhang District of Shanghai. The tournament is chronologically the eighth out of nine ATP Tour Masters 1000 events on the ATP Tour, and is the only one not played in Europe or North America.
