Xie Yao Quan
Xie Yao Quan ( zh, s=谢曜全, p=Xiè Yàoquán, born 1984) is a Singaporean politician. A member of the governing People's Action Party (PAP), he has been the Member of Parliament (MP) representing the Jurong Central division of Jurong GRC since 2020. Education Xie was educated at Raffles Institution and Raffles Junior College. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in biomedical engineering and Master of Science degree in engineering management from Duke University. Career Xie served as an officer in the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF), where he held various command appointments and helped develop future strategic requirements for the SAF. After leaving the army, he was a vice president in an investment management company with interests in real estate, hospitality and other sectors in the Southeast Asia region and China. Xie (; ) is a Chinese-language surname. lt is usually romanized as "Hsieh" in Taiwan. It is estimated that there are more than ten million people with this surname, the majority of whom live in Taiwan, Southern China, South East Asia, America, Europe and Africa. 2020 Singaporean General Election
General elections were held in Singapore on Friday, 10 July 2020 to elect 93 members to the Parliament of Singapore across 31 constituencies. Parliament was dissolved and the general election called by President Halimah Yacob on 23 June, on the advice of Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong. It elected members of parliament to the 14th Parliament of Singapore since Singapore's independence in 1965, using the first-past-the-post electoral system. Voting was mandatory for all Singaporeans who were aged 21 or above as of 1 March 2020. This election was the 18th general election in Singapore and the 13th since independence. Jurong GRC
The Jurong Group Representation Constituency is a five-member Group Representation Constituency located in the western area of Singapore. The GRC consists of a large section of Jurong, sections of Bukit Batok and areas near Upper Bukit Timah Road. The five divisions of the GRC: Bukit Batok East, Jurong Central, Taman Jurong, Jurong Spring and Clementi.
