Xiaonanmen () is a station on Line 9 of the Shanghai Metro. As part of the line's phase 2 easterly extension, it began operation on December 31, 2009. Huangpu District, Shanghai
Huangpu District (), makes up the eastern part of Shanghai's traditional urban core and is today the most central of Shanghai's 16 districts. Huangpu district is the seat of municipal government, includes key attractions such as The Bund and the Old City God Temple, as well as popular shopping districts such as Nanjing Road, Huaihai Road and Xintiandi. The Huangpu District is one of the most densely populated urban districts in the world. Location The Huangpu District is located in central Shanghai, People's Republic of China on the left bank (i.e., west or north bank) of Huangpu River, after which the district is named. Island Platform
An island platform (also center platform, centre platform) is a station layout arrangement where a single platform is positioned between two tracks within a railway station, tram stop or transitway interchange. Island platforms are popular on twin-track routes due to pragmatic and cost reasons. They are also useful within larger stations where local and express services for the same direction of travel can be provided from opposite sides of the same platform thereby simplifying transfers between the two tracks. An alternative arrangement is to position side platforms on either side of the tracks. The historical use of island platforms depends greatly upon the location. Line 9 (Shanghai Metro)
Line 9 is a southwest-northeast line of the Shanghai Metro network. The line runs from in Songjiang District to in Pudong. The line is colored on system maps. History In the initial planning of Line 9, the entire line was from Fengjing to Chongming Island. Later, the plan to extend to Fengjing was cancelled, and the section to Chongming Island was changed to Chongming line. The first phase of Line 9, from to stations, opened on December 29, 2007. It uses the Bombardier Movia trains which were lended to line 1. Line 9 did not directly connect to the rest of the Shanghai Metro network until the opening of the Line 9 portion of the station on December 28, 2008. The station is an interchange between lines 3 and 4. A shuttle bus conveyed passengers between Guilin Road and Yishan Road stations until construction was completed. Pudong
Pudong is a district of Shanghai located east of the Huangpu, the river which flows through central Shanghai. The name ''Pudong'' was originally applied to the Huangpu's east bank, directly across from the west bank or Puxi, the historic city center. It now refers to the broader Pudong New Area, a state-level new area which extends all the way to the East China Sea. The traditional area of Pudong is now home to the Lujiazui Finance and Trade Zone and the Shanghai Stock Exchange and many of Shanghai's best-known buildings, such as the Oriental Pearl Tower, the Jin Mao Tower, the Shanghai World Financial Center, and the Shanghai Tower.
