Xiamen BRT
Xiamen's Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) is a bus rapid transit system in Xiamen, Fujian, China. It was formally put into operation on August 31, 2008 and is considered China's first elevated BRT network. Eventually the system will be rebuilt into an elevated metro network and be integrated with the Xiamen Metro. The system uses some dedicated elevated roadways as well as dedicated lanes on bridges which allow buses to reach speeds of 60 km/h. Due to its success, the city has won honors as the China's top transportation city for six years running with more than 30% of trips taken by public transport. Xiamen
Xiamen ( , ; ), also known as Amoy (, from Hokkien pronunciation ), is a sub-provincial city in southeastern Fujian, People's Republic of China, beside the Taiwan Strait. It is divided into six districts: Huli, Siming, Jimei, Tong'an, Haicang, and Xiang'an. All together, these cover an area of with a population of 5,163,970 as of 2020 and estimated at 5.28 million as of 31 December 2021. The urbanized area of the city has spread from its original island to include most parts of all six of its districts, and with 4 Zhangzhou districts ( Xiangcheng, Longwen, Longhai and Changtai), form a built-up area of 7,284,148 inhabitants. Line 1 of the Xiamen Metro is a subway line in Xiamen Xiamen ( , ; ), also known as Amoy (, from Hokkien pronunciation ), is a sub-provincial city in southeastern Fujian, People's Republic of China, beside the Taiwan Strait. Jimei District
() is one of six districts of Xiamen, People's Republic of China. Founded in 1992, with an area of , in 2003 it gained some territory in a reorganisation of district governments. The total local resident population is 280,000. Jimei District has a rich history and vibrant culture.
