The Apoena is a Brazilian Low Altitude Long Endurance (LALE) unmanned aerial vehicle designed and built by XMobots for several kinds of sensing roles. XMobots is a Brazilian company that develops and operates Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS). The company was the first to obtain permission of the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) to perform experimental flights with RPASs in the country. History XMobots was created in 2007 with the purpose of developing RPAS, also called Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), with national technology. The company was born incubated in the Center for Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Technology of The São Paulo University (CIETEC-USP) from a R&D project of its founders. At that time, they were master's degree students at the Polytechnic School of the University of São Paulo (POLI-USP). A two-stroke (or two-stroke cycle) engine is a type of internal combustion engine that completes a power cycle with two strokes (up and down movements) of the piston during one power cycle, this power cycle being completed in one revolution of the crankshaft. In aviation, the term tractor configuration refers to an aircraft constructed in the standard configuration with its engine mounted with the propeller in front of it so that the aircraft is "pulled" through the air. Oppositely, the pusher configuration places the airscrew behind and propels the aircraft forward. A flap is a high-lift device used to reduce the stalling speed of an aircraft wing at a given weight. Flaps are usually mounted on the wing trailing edges of a fixed-wing aircraft.
