XHIMER-FM
XHIMER-FM is a radio station in Mexico City. Broadcasting on 94.5 FM from a tower on Cerro del Chiquihuite, XHIMER is owned by the Instituto Mexicano de la Radio and broadcasts a classical music format under the brand name Opus 94. History In the 1970s, the Instituto Politécnico Nacional ceded its rights to 94.5 FM to the Secretariat of Public Education so the SEP could move Radio Educación ( XEEP-AM) to FM. However, the money was not available for the SEP to build out the station, and so the proposal was stalled. The Opus format began on 710 AM ( XEMP) in 1983. That same year, 94.5 FM, the last full-power FM frequency available in Mexico City, was put up to attract noncommercial permits. Several groups — the IPN and IMER among them — jockeyed for the station, with IMER winning. Opus moved to the new 94.5 FM on July 4, 1986, when 50 kW transmissions commenced. XEB-AM (branded as ''La B Grande'') is a radio station on AM frequency 1220 kHz, serving Mexico City and surrounding areas in Mexico. It airs a Spanish language classic contemporary format with music from the 1940s to the 1970s. Cerro Del Chiquihuite
Cerro del Chiquihuite (Chiquihuite Hill) is a hill located in the north of Mexico City, in the borough of Gustavo A. Madero and bordering the municipality of Tlalnepantla de Baz in the State of Mexico. The hill has a height of above sea level and forms part of the Sierra de Guadalupe mountain range. It was used as a filming location for the 1993 Mexican film ''Lolo''. In 2021, a landslide occurred in the Lázaro Cárdenas neighborhood located in Tlalnepantla de Baz, State of Mexico. Geology The Cerro del Chiquihuite is a volcanic exogenic dome made of andesitic rock deposited in layers of varying thickness that show signs of extreme weathering. HD Radio
HD Radio (HDR) is a trademark for an in-band on-channel (IBOC) digital radio broadcast technology. It generally simulcasts an existing analog radio station in digital format with less noise and with additional text information. HD Radio is used primarily by AM and FM radio stations in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, with a few implementations outside North America. The term "on channel" is a misnomer because the system actually broadcasts on the ordinarily unused channels adjacent to an existing radio station's allocation. This leaves the original analog signal intact, allowing enabled receivers to switch between digital and analog as required. In most FM implementations, from 96 to 128 kbps of capacity is available.
