North American X-10
The North American X-10 (originally designated RTV-A-5) was an unmanned technology demonstrator developed by North American Aviation. It was a subscale reusable design that included many of the design features of the SM-64 Navaho missile. The X-10 was similar to the development of the Bell X-9 Shrike project, which was based on features of the GAM-63 RASCAL. Development To facilitate development of the long-range Navaho surface-to-surface cruise missile, North American Aviation (NAA) developed the RTV-A-5 (Research Test Vehicle, Air Force), or X-10 in 1951. This vehicle was to prove critical flight technology for the design of the Navaho cruise missile. These included proving the basic aerodynamics to Mach 2, flight testing the inertial guidance unit and flight control avionics to the same speed, and validate the recovery system for the next phase in the Navaho program. SL X10
X10 is a series of two-car electric multiple units which was formerly operated by Greater Stockholm Transport (SL) on the Stockholm commuter rail between 1983 and 2017, when the City Line project made them imcompatible with the X60 train sets. The X10 was operated in sets of up to five units, making ten-car trains, each unit consisting of one motor car and one unpowered car. They were completely compatible with the X1 introduced in the 1960s. 101 units were built by ASEA between 1982 and 1993. Between 1993 and 1999, 49 X10 units were rebuilt to X11 for the Skåne Commuter Rail and the Gothenburg Commuter Rail. They have a different interior more suitable for regional traffic and are slightly heavier and have toilets (X10 don't have them since most SL stations have toilets). From 1999 only 52 X10 remained and all of them belonged to Storstockholms Lokaltrafik (SL). X10 is a protocol for communication among electronic devices used for home automation (''domotics''). It primarily uses power line wiring for signaling and control, where the signals involve brief radio frequency bursts representing digital information. A wireless radio-based protocol transport is also defined. X10 was developed in 1975 by Pico Electronics of Glenrothes, Scotland, in order to allow remote control of home devices and appliances. X10 Wireless Technology, Inc. was an American subsidiary of a Hong Kong- Bermuda company best known for marketing wireless video cameras using controversial pop-under advertisements. Also marketed a remote control system for lamps and appliances that used the home's electrical wiring as the signaling network, using the X10 industry standard protocol. It was founded in 1999 in Kent, Washington. History X10 sprang from a small engineering company in Scotland called Pico Electronics, Ltd. in 1974. Pico later fit under the umbrella of X10 Ltd.
