Alpha Flight
Alpha Flight is a fictional team of Canadian superheroes appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. The characters premiered in ''The Uncanny X-Men'' #120 (April 1979), and were created to serve as part of the X-Men member Wolverine's backstory. Marvel published an '' Alpha Flight'' comic book series from 1983 to 1994. The team serves as Marvel's premier Canadian superhero team akin to America's Avengers. Publication history Created by British-born Canadian-raised writer and artist John Byrne, as well as Chris Claremont, the team's leader - Weapon Alpha (later renamed to Guardian), first appeared in ''The Uncanny X-Men'' #109. John Byrne (comics)
John Lindley Byrne (; born July 6, 1950) is a British-born American comic book writer and artist of superhero comics. Since the mid-1970s, Byrne has worked on many major superheroes; with noted work on Marvel Comics's ''X-Men'' and ''Fantastic Four (comic book), Fantastic Four''. Byrne also facilitated the 1986 relaunch of DC Comics's ''Superman'' franchise with the Limited series (comics), limited series The Man of Steel (comics), ''The Man of Steel'', the first issue of which featured the comics' first variant cover. French Canadians, referred to as Canadiens mainly before the nineteenth century, are an ethnic group descended from French colonists first arriving in France's colony of Canada in 1608. The vast majority of French Canadians live in the province of Quebec. During the 17th century, French settlers originating mainly from the west and north of France settled Canada. "Chaos War" is a Marvel Comics storyline that began publication in October 2010 across nine comic book series: the five-issue miniseries ''Chaos War'', written by Greg Pak and Fred Van Lente, supplemented by seven branded miniseries or one-shot publications, and by three issues of ''Incredible Hulks'', a temporary iteration of the long-running series ''The Incredible Hulk''. Penciller
A penciller (or penciler) is an artist who works on the creation of comic books, graphic novels, and similar visual art forms, with a focus on the initial pencil illustrations. In the American comic book industry, the penciller is the first step in rendering the story in visual form, and may require several steps of feedback with the writer. Avengers (comics)
The Avengers are a team of superheroes appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics, created by writer-editor Stan Lee and artist/co-plotter Jack Kirby. The team made its debut in '' The Avengers'' #1 (cover-dated September 1963). Labeled "Earth's Mightiest Heroes", the original Avengers consisted of Iron Man, Ant-Man, Hulk, Thor, and Wasp. Captain America was discovered trapped in ice in issue #4, and joined the group after they revived him.
