Wyoming Highway 343 (WYO 343) is a north-south Wyoming State Road in northern Sheridan County, Wyoming, Sheridan County that connects U.S. Route 14 in Wyoming, U.S. Route 14 (US 14) and Wyoming Highway 345, WYO 345. Route description Wyoming Highway 343 begins its southern end at U.S. Route 14 in Wyoming, U.S. Route 14 at Dayton, Wyoming, Dayton and from there travels northwest. At approximately 4 miles into the route, Highway 343 gently curves northeast as it meets Sheridan County Route 118 (Columbus Creek Road). Shortly thereafter, WYO 343 turns due north. Highway 343 ends after 5.24 miles at Wyoming Highway 345 (former U.S. Route 87 in Wyoming, US 87) southeast of Parkman, Wyoming, Parkman. Dayton is a town in Sheridan County, Wyoming, United States. The population was 822 at the 2020 census. History Dayton was named after Joe Dayton Thorn in 1882 because he was one of the founding fathers of the city. Wyoming's first rodeo was held here in the 1890s and Dayton elected the first female mayor in Wyoming. Sheridan County is a county in the U.S. state of Wyoming. As of the 2020 United States Census, the population was 30,921. The county seat is Sheridan. Its northern boundary abuts the Montana state border. Sheridan County comprises the Sheridan, WY Micropolitan Statistical Area. Wyoming Highway 345 (WYO 345) is a east–west Wyoming State Road located in northern Sheridan County. Route description Wyoming Highway 345 begins its western end (or northern end at this point) at Montana Secondary Highway 451 at the Montana State Line, approximately 3 miles north of Parkman, Wyoming. For its entire length, WYO 345 parallels the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway and to some extent Interstate 90/US Route 87, which lies north of it. Highway 345 travels through the census-designated place (CDP) of Parkman at about 3 miles, as it turns gently southeast. Shortly after, the northern terminus of Wyoming Highway 343, which links to US 14 at Dayton, is met at just under 6 miles.
