Wuchang Chunghua University
Wuchang Chunghua University () is the first private university in China that is independently founded by individuals without the help from government or foreigners. It was founded in 1912 by Chen Shi() and his father Chen Xuankai (), and migrated to Chongqing during the Second Sino-Japanese War. After the Chinese Communist Revolution, Chunghua University was combinationed with Huachung University and Chung Yuan University to form today's Central China Normal University in 1952. Its old campus was left to Wuchang Wenhua Middle School. Chongqing
Chongqing ( or ; ; Sichuanese dialects, Sichuanese pronunciation: , Standard Mandarin pronunciation: ), Postal Romanization, alternately romanized as Chungking (), is a Direct-administered municipalities of China, municipality in Southwest China. Huachung University
Huachung University () was a Christian university in Wuhan, in China's Yangtze valley, originally called Boone University, was founded by the union of several Christian universities in 1924 and renamed Huachung in 1929. The university expanded until it was forced to retreat during the Second Sino-Japanese War, but returned to Wuhan in 1945. Yun Daiying
Yun Daiying (August 12, 1895 – April 29, 1931) was an early leader of the Chinese Communist Party. Early life In 1913, Yun Daiying entered the private Zhonghua University in Wuchang, and after graduation in 1918, he stayed there as an instructor. In 1919, he participated in the May Fourth Movement in Wuhan. In 1920, he founded the Socialist Youth League of China with Xiao Chunü and others, and in 1921, he joined the Chinese Communist Party as one of the first batch of party members. In 1923, he became an instructor at Shanghai University. Guang Weiran
Guang Weiran (, 1 November 1913 – 28 January 2002), born Zhang Guangnian (), was a Chinese poet and military leader. He is best known for writing the poem that inspired the ''Yellow River Cantata''. Life Guang Weiran was born in Laohekou, Hubei in 1913. He dropped out of high school to participate in the Great Revolution. In doing so, he joined the Communist Party of China in 1929. He then enrolled in Wuchang University of China. He was inspired to write the ''Yellow River Cantata'' as an "anti-Japanese propaganda" technique when Japan invaded China in 1939. It was said that while leading his troops into battle, he fell off his horse and broke his left arm which gave him time to write the poem. It is also said that while travelling, he saw fishermen singing uplifting songs which also inspired him to write the poem. Chen Tanqiu
Chen Tanqiu (; 4 January 1896 – 27 September 1943) was a founding member of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). Chen Tanqiu graduated from Wuhan Higher Normal School (present day Wuhan University) after which he played a leadership role in the May Fourth Movement in 1919. Chen then created the Wuhan Communist group with Dong Biwu in 1920.
