Witch (band)
Witch is an American stoner metal band whose members are from Vermont and Massachusetts. History Witch was formed in 2005 by Dinosaur Jr. guitarist J Mascis and long time friend Dave Sweetapple. However, Mascis does not play guitar for the band; he plays his first instrument, the drums. To complete the band's line-up, Mascis and Sweetapple recruited the guitarist and vocalist, Kyle Thomas, from King Tuff and avant-folk group Feathers. Their eponymous debut album was released on March 7, 2006. They also contributed an alternate version of the song "Rip Van Winkle" to the '' Invaders'' compilation, which was released by Kemado Records later that year. Their latest album ''Paralyzed'' was released on March 18, 2008. Style Witch's trademark sound (particularly in their early work) shows obvious Black Sabbath influence. The genre emerged during the early 1990s and was pioneered foremost by Kyuss and Sleep. Doom metal is an extreme subgenre of heavy metal music that typically uses slower tempos, low-tuned guitars and a much "thicker" or "heavier" sound than other heavy metal genres.K. Joseph Donald Mascis Jr. ( ; born December 10, 1965), better known as J Mascis, is an American musician who is the singer, guitarist and main songwriter for the alternative rock band Dinosaur Jr. He has also released several albums as a solo artist and played drums and guitar on other projects. His most recent solo album, ''Elastic Days'', was released in November 2018. He was ranked number 86 in a ''Rolling Stone'' list of the "100 Greatest Guitarists", and number 5 in a similar list for ''Spin'' magazine in 2012. Dinosaur Jr. is an American rock band formed in Amherst, Massachusetts, in 1984, originally simply called Dinosaur until legal issues forced a change in name. The band was founded by J Mascis (guitar, vocals, primary songwriter), Lou Barlow (bass, vocals), and Murph (drums). The A-side and B-side are the two sides of phonograph records and cassettes; these terms have often been printed on the labels of two-sided music recordings.
