Winterfest
Winterfest is the name of several winter festivals held in various locations in North America. Cedar Fair parks WinterFest is a seasonal event held at Cedar Fair amusement parks, an event that enables the parks to remain open during the months of November and December. As of 2019, seven Cedar Fair parks have hosted WinterFest events, including California's Great America in Santa Clara, California; Canada's Wonderland in Vaughan, Ontario; Carowinds in Charlotte; King's Dominion in Doswell, Virginia; Kings Island in Mason, Ohio; and Worlds of Fun in Kansas City, Missouri. California's Great America, often shortened to Great America, is a amusement park located in Santa Clara, California. Owned and operated by Cedar Fair, it originally opened in 1976 as one of two parks built by the Marriott Corporation. Human Dog Sled Competition
The Human Dog Sled Competition is an event held in February during the Winterfest celebration of Lowell, Massachusetts, USA. Each year, a field of approximately 32 teams compete against each other in a double elimination tournament to determine the National Human Dog Sled Champion. The teams consist of six persons including four sled pullers, a sled rider, and a sled pusher. The sled race is approximately 50 meters long and takes place along a snow-covered street in downtown Lowell. Team members often dress in wacky costumes and there is a prize for the most creative of attire. The Human Dogsled Competition has been recognized for several years by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) for its animal-friendly approach to winter fun. Boat parades are a waterway event with illuminated boats. Some of the well known water parades include locations such as Walt Disney World, the Newport Beach Christmas Boat Parade, and Fort Lauderdale. Carowinds is a amusement park located adjacent to Interstate 77 in Charlotte, North Carolina. The park straddles the North Carolina-South Carolina state line, with a portion of the park located in Fort Mill, South Carolina. Beloit is a city in Rock County, Wisconsin, United States. As of the 2020 census, the city had a population of 36,657 people.
