Winter Cup
The Winter Cup is an annual winter gymnastics meet for elite artistic gymnasts of the United States. History The first edition of the Winter Cup was held in 1997 and was initially a men's artistic gymnastics competition. Women competed at the event for the first time in 2021. The competition had a combined senior and junior field until 2018. Artistic Gymnastics
Artistic gymnastics is a discipline of gymnastics in which athletes perform short routines on different apparatuses. The sport is governed by the Fédération Internationale de Gymnastique (FIG), which designs the Code of Points and regulates all aspects of elite international competition. Within individual countries, gymnastics is regulated by national federations like British Gymnastics and USA Gymnastics. Artistic gymnastics is a popular spectator sport at many competitions, including the Summer Olympic Games. History The gymnastic system was mentioned in writings by ancient authors, including Homer, Aristotle, and Plato. It included many disciplines that later became independent sports, such as swimming, racing, wrestling, boxing, and horse riding. It was also used for military training. The 2020 Winter Cup was an artistic gymnastics competition held at the Westgate Las Vegas in Las Vegas from February 20 to February 22, 2020. Competition The competition featured both junior and senior competitive divisions. The finals session featured the top 28 senior athletes based on the 10-point system and the top 14 juniors from the Elite Team Cup. Junior athletes advanced to the finals according to the all-around ranking from the first day of competition. All-around ranking and individual event champions were determined via a combined two-day score. Colt Walker (gymnast)
Colt Barrett Walker (born June 25, 2001) is an American artistic gymnast. He is a member of the United States national gymnastics team and is currently competing in collegiate gymnastics for Stanford. He was a member of the gold medal winning team at the 2022 Pan American Championships. He is the 2019 junior Winter Cup and National Champion. Personal life Walker was born in Austin, Texas to Pam and Keith Walker. He has one sibling. He attended Chaparral Star Academy, graduating in 2020. Asher Keen Wah Hong (born March 23, 2004) is an American artistic gymnast. He is a member of the United States men's national gymnastics team. Personal life Hong was born in Plano, Texas, on March 23, 2004, to Rick and Karen Hong. He has two brothers, both of whom are also gymnasts. Yul Moldauer
Yul Kyung-Tae Moldauer (born August 26, 1996) is an American artistic gymnast. He is the 2017 U.S. national all-around champion and the 2017 World bronze medalist on floor exercise. He represented the United States at the 2020 Summer Olympics. Early life and education Moldauer was born in Seoul, South Korea on August 16, 1996 and named Kyung-Tae. Before he was a year old, Peter Moldauer adopted him and named him Yul after the actor Yul Brynner. Because his biological mother was chemically dependent, his adoptive father was told he might not develop into a "productive adult." Moldauer has three siblings, Leah, Sorcha and Sundo. He grew up on a farm in Colorado and attended Golden High School. Sam Mikulak
Samuel Anthony Mikulak (born October 13, 1992) is a retired American artistic gymnast. He is a six-time U.S. national all-around champion (2013–2016, 2018–2019), the 2018 World bronze medalist on high bar, and a three-time Olympian (2012, 2016, and 2020). He is also an eight-time NCAA champion, winning the team, individual all-around and several individual event titles at the 2011, 2013 and 2014 NCAA Men's Gymnastics championships. Early years Mikulak was born in Huntington Beach, California, and attended Corona del Mar High School. He is of Polish descent. His parents both competed in gymnastics at the University of California, Berkeley, and started Sam in gymnastics at age two.
