Windhand
Windhand is an American doom metal band formed in Richmond, Virginia, in 2008. Currently signed to Relapse Records, Windhand released their most recent album, ''Eternal Return (Windhand album), Eternal Return'', in October 2018. History Windhand formed in 2008 with singer Dorthia Cottrell, guitarists Asechiah Bogdan (also a member of Alabama Thunderpussy) and Garrett Morris, bassist Nathan Hilbish and drummer Jeff Loucks. In 2010, they released a two-song demo titled ''Practice Space Demo''. Loucks was then replaced by former The Might Could drummer Ryan Wolfe. The band signed with Forcefield Records and released their Windhand (album), eponymous debut album in 2012. Hilbish left the band and was replaced by Parker Chandler. Shortly after, the band left Forcefield and signed to Relapse Records, which released their second album, ''Soma (Windhand album), Soma'', in 2013. The album reached No. 24 on the ''Billboard'' Heatseekers Albums chart, making it the band's first release t ...

''Windhand / Satan's Satyrs'' is a 2018 split extended play (EP) by American bands Windhand and Satan's Satyrs. Release ''Windhand / Satan's Satyrs'' was released on February 16 on vinyl, compact disc and as a digital download. This split EP peaked at 11 on the Top Heatseekers on its release. Following its release, Satan's Satyrs and Windhand played a record release show on together on March 23, 2018, in Richmond, Virginia. Reception James Christopher Monger of AllMusic declared that the EP "delivers enough wattage to power the East Coast through a category five hurricane.", and declared Satan's Satyrs song "Succubus" was a highlight that "grooves as hard as it spanks." Satan's Satyrs
Satan's Satyrs was an American band originally formed in 2009 in Virginia by lead vocalist and bassist Clayton Burgess. The band's lineup as of 2016 included Burgess, Jarrett Nettnin, Stephen Fairfield and Nate Towle. Originally influenced by groups such as Electric Wizard and Black Flag, Burgess mailed a demo tape to Electric Wizard and recorded their first album ''Wild Beyond Belief'', which began with Burgess performing all the instruments while still being attending high school. The group began their follow-up album ''Die Screaming'' and were invited by Jus Oborn of Electric Wizard to perform at the Roadburn Festival in 2013. Alabama Thunderpussy, originally known as Alabama Thunder Pussy, is an American heavy metal band from Richmond, Virginia. It was founded by Bryan Cox, Erik Larson and Asechiah Bogdan in 1996. History Bryan Cox, Erik Larson and Asechiah Bogdan founded ATP in 1996. Bill Storms and Johnny Throckmorton completed the lineup, and the band signed to Man's Ruin Records in 1998. Relapse Records is an American independent record label based in Upper Darby, Pennsylvania. It was founded by Matthew F. Jacobson in 1990. The label features many grindcore, death metal, metalcore and sludge metal artists. History The label was started by Matthew F. Jacobson in August, 1990 in his parents' basement in Aurora, Colorado. The first two releases on the label were 7-inch singles by the bands Velcro Overdose and Face of Decline, closely followed by three death metal bands that would become among the biggest on the label, Deceased, Suffocation, and Incantation. After this, Jacobson became acquainted with William Yurkiewicz Jr., who became his partner in the record label.
