William Vivanco
William Vivanco (born October 6, 1975, in Santiago de Cuba) is a Cuban composer and musician. Vivanco learned to play guitar by visiting Casa de la Trova on Calle Heredia in Santiago de Chile. He busked in the streets and performed with a professional children's choir. Vivanco first came to Havana when he was 23 years old. He made his first solo album, ''Lo Tengo To' Pensa'o'', a mix of Brazilian music, pop, and reggae, under the Bis Music label in 2002. His most well-known song is "Cimarrón" (meaning "one who lives on mountaintops"). The song refers to African slaves who ran away from their Spanish masters. Santiago de Cuba is the second-largest city in Cuba and the capital city of Santiago de Cuba Province. It lies in the southeastern area of the island, some southeast of the Cuban capital of Havana. Descemer Bueno
Descemer Bueno (born July 5, 1971) is a Cuban singer, songwriter, and record producer. His first professional gigs were playing bass with Cuban troubadour Santiago Feliú. Early career Bueno studied music and became a music teacher before forming the jazz combo band Estado de Animo in 1990, which also included guitarist Elmer Ferrer and pianist Roberto Carcassés. His band toured Spain, Bolivia, Uruguay, Germany, and Argentina in the 1990s. Descemer also performed in the United States in 1998 with the jazz ensemble Column B. Bueno studied music at Stanford University in Palo Alto California. He graduated in 1998 with a Bachelorate degree in music production. He was selected from over 2500 applicants to interview with the music faculty. Bueno was one out of the 60 students who were granted admission to the university. Roberto Carcassés is a Cuban jazz pianist. He was born on May 19, 1972, in Havana, Cuba. He has collaborated with many musicians, such as Chucho Valdés, Changuito, Wynton Marsalis, George Benson, and Descemer Bueno. He is the bandleader of the Interactivo collective. Biography Also known as Robertico, Roberto Carcassés graduated in percussion from the National School of Arts in Havana in 1991. He toured as a pianist with the Grupo de Santiago Feliú in Argentina, Germany, and Spain between 1992 and 1995. He took part in a tour in Spain and the US with the group Columna B, in 1998–1999. During this period, he taught in the Jazz Workshop of Stanford University.
