Wilhelm Von Hanno
Andreas Friedrich Wilhelm von Hanno (15 December 1826 – 12 December 1882) was a German-born Norwegian architect, sculptor and painter. He was among the leading architects in Norway during the middle of the 1800s. Biography Wilhelm von Hanno was born in Hamburg, Germany. Wilhelm's father, music teacher and librarian Johann Carl Hübner (born 1790), was a native of Königsberg and later took the additional name von Hanno. Von Hanno was educated at Die Hamburgische Gesellschaft zur Beförderung der Künste und Nützlichen Gewerben in Hamburg between the years 1840–43. Struve Geodetic Arc
The Struve Geodetic Arc is a chain of survey triangulations stretching from Hammerfest in Norway to the Black Sea, through ten countries and over , which yielded the first accurate measurement of a meridian arc. The chain was established and used by the German-born Russian scientist Friedrich Georg Wilhelm von Struve in the years 1816 to 1855 to establish the exact size and shape of the earth. At that time, the chain passed merely through three countries: Norway, Sweden and the Russian Empire. The Arc's first point is located in Tartu Observatory in Estonia, where Struve conducted much of his research. Measurement of the triangulation chain comprises 258 main triangles and 265 geodetic vertices. Kongsvinger Station ( no, Kongsvinger stasjon) is a railway station located in downtown Kongsvinger, Norway, on the Kongsvinger Line and Solør Line. Carl Von Hanno
Carl von Hanno (24 November 1901 – 13 February 1953) was a Norwegian painter. His early style was influenced by cubism, and politically motivated. He later developed a personal, colourful style, often portraying seascapes. Biography He was born in Kristiania (now Oslo), Norway. He was a grandson of architect, sculptor and painter Wilhelm von Hanno (1826-1882). His grandfather had operated a drawing school in Kristiania which was later operated his father Albert Oscar von Hanno (1862-1938). He was a student at the Norwegian National Academy of Craft and Art Industry in 1920 and at the Norwegian National Academy of Fine Arts 1920–22. He spent a couple of semesters at the painting school of Pola Gauguin (1883–1961) from 1923. His first solo exhibition was at Blomqvist Kunsthandel in 1924.
