Wiet Huidekoper
Louis "Wiet" Huidekoper (Bussum, 29 October 1953 - Purmerend, 7 January 2023) was Dutch racecar designer and former technical director for the Opel DTM programme. His major career was in the international sports car racing arena. Career Wiet Huidekoper was born in Bussum in the Netherlands where he grew up. Following his study at the Delft University of Technology Huidekoper worked at Fokker, the Dutch aircraft manufacturer. Autumn 1979 he moved to the UK to seek a career in the motor racing industry. The first car he designed and constructed was the Chinell W16/83 Formula Ford 1600. He was then hired by Royale to develop their existing and until then under-performing Formula Ford: the RP33. This was followed by the design of a new Formula Ford car, the RP36's of which 14 were built. Opel Automobile GmbH (), usually shortened to Opel, is a German automobile manufacturer which has been a subsidiary of Stellantis since 16 January 2021. The Porsche 911 GT1 is a car designed and developed by German automobile manufacturer Porsche AG to compete in the GT1 class of sportscar racing, which also required a street-legal version for homologation purposes. The Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters (DTM, German Touring Car Masters) is a grand touring car series sanctioned by ITR e.V. who have been affiliated to the DMSB-FIA since 1984. The series is based in Germany, with rounds elsewhere in Europe. The series currently races a modified version of Group GT3 grand touring cars, replacing the silhouette later Class 1 touring cars of earlier years. Opel Performance Center (OPC) is a division of the German automobile manufacturer Opel, initially set up as a subsidiary in 1997. The main focus of OPC is the development of performance derivatives of the Opel range, such as the hot hatch Corsa OPC and Astra OPC. The OPC name is also used in some motorsport activities such as the VLN. In the United Kingdom, where Opel vehicles are sold under the Vauxhall marque, the VXR name is used instead. Volker Strycek
Volker Strycek (born 13 October 1957 in Essen) is a German racecar driver and automobile manager. In 1984 he became the first Deutsche Tourenwagen Meisterschaft champion, driving a BMW 635 CSi, without winning a race. He did not win a DTM race either when driving for Opel from 1989 to 1996. After the original DTM faltered, he became a manager for Opel, leading the Opel Performance Center (OPC). He entered a DTM- Calibra on the Nürburgring Nordschleife in 1999, and in 2002 raced new DTM-Opel Astra there. Setting fast lap times, he proved that these advanced cars are suitable for the long and bumpy Nordschleife. As a result, several factory teams entered the 24 Hours Nürburgring in 2003, and Strycek won together with three of his employees. In 2004, they set the fastest lap. ORECA (Organisation Exploitation Compétition Automobiles) is a French racing team and race car constructor, founded in 1973 and run by Hugues de Chaunac, former team manager of F1 team AGS. Oreca has had success in many areas of motorsport. Since the early 1990s the team has concentrated on running sports cars and GT cars.
