West Ecclesfield
West Ecclesfield ward—which includes the districts of Burncross, Grenoside, High Green—is one of the 28 electoral wards in City of Sheffield, England. It is located in the northern part of the city and covers an area of in the western part of Ecclesfield Parish. The population of this ward in 2011 was 17,699 people in 7,675 households. West Ecclesfield was one of the six wards that made up the former Sheffield Hillsborough Parliamentary constituency. In their final report, the Boundary Commission for England recommended that West Ecclesfield form part of a reformed Penistone Parliamentary constituency. Ecclesfield is a village and civil parish in the City of Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England, about 4 miles (6 km) north of Sheffield City Centre. Barnes Hall, South Yorkshire
Barnes Hall is an English country house near Burncross within the City of Sheffield in England. The estate includes the buildings of the adjacent Barnes Hall farm. History Original hall The present Barnes Hall was built in 1824, but there has been a building on the site since at least the reign of Edward III (1327-1377) when it appeared in a roll of dependencies of the Manor of Sheffield and was known as Manerium de Bernes. The first known occupants of the building were the Barnes family who lived there in the 13th and 14th centuries. The estate then passed by marriage to the Bromley family who sold it to Robert Shatton in 1442. Shatton sold the hall in 1477 for £140 to Thomas Rotherham who served as Archbishop of York and Lord Chancellor during his lifetime. Chapeltown, South Yorkshire
Chapeltown is a large village and suburb of Sheffield in South Yorkshire, England. It is part of the Parish of Ecclesfield. It is historically within the West Riding of Yorkshire. Geography Chapeltown is located approximately north of Sheffield city centre on the railway between Sheffield and Barnsley. Chapeltown railway station is served by the Penistone Line and Hallam Line. Two junctions of the M1 motorway also serve the area. The A6135 road passes through the town from north to south and is joined near the town centre by the A629 road from the south-east and the B6546 road from the west. Penistone ( ) is a market town and civil parish in the Metropolitan Borough of Barnsley, South Yorkshire, England, which had a population of 22,909 at the 2011 census. Historically in the West Riding of Yorkshire, it is west of Barnsley, north-east of Glossop, north-west of Sheffield, south-west of Leeds and east of Manchester in the foothills of the Pennines.
