''Weathervanes'' is the debut studio album by the American indie pop group Freelance Whales. The album was released on December 29, 2009. The song "Generator ^ First Floor" was used to help launch the new Twitter redesign on September 14, 2010, and was made available for free download. The same song also appeared in a Starbucks commercial, which first aired in March 2011. The song "Generator ^ Second Floor" was used in the second episode of the USA Network series ''Covert Affairs'', during the scene where Auggie teaches Annie how to fight. The song "Starring" was used in the series premiere episode of MTV's 2012 adaptation of ''The Inbetweeners'', which aired on August 20, 2012. "Starring" plays during the cafeteria scene, when Carly speaks to Simon. The song "We Could be Friends" was used in the 12th episode of ''Ugly Betty'', titled "Blackout". Freelance Whales was an American indie rock band which formed in Queens, New York, United States, in 2008. The band consists of frontman Judah Dadone and bandmates Chuck Criss, Jacob Hyman and Kevin Read. ''Covert Affairs'' is an American action drama television series filmed in Toronto, Canada, starring Piper Perabo and Christopher Gorham that premiered on Tuesday, July 13, 2010. Plot overview A young CIA trainee, Annie Walker, is sent to work in the Domestic Protection Division (DPD) as a field agent. Metacritic is a website that review aggregator, aggregates reviews of films, TV shows, music albums, video games and formerly, books. For each product, the scores from each review are averaged (a weighted arithmetic mean, weighted average). Metacritic was created by Jason Dietz, Marc Doyle, and Julie Doyle Roberts in 1999. The site provides an excerpt from each review and hyperlinks to its source. A color of green, yellow or red summarizes the critics' recommendations. It is regarded as the foremost online review aggregation site for the video game industry. Metacritic's scoring converts each review into a percentage, either mathematically from the mark given, or what the site decides subjectively from a qualitative review. Indie Pop
Indie pop (also typeset as indie-pop or indiepop) is a music genre and subculture that combines guitar pop with DIY ethic in opposition to the style and tone of mainstream pop music. It originated from British post-punk in the late 1970s and subsequently generated a thriving fanzine, Independent record label, label, and club and gig circuit. Compared to its counterpart, indie rock, the genre is more melodic, less abrasive, and relatively angst-free.
