Wayne Richardson
Wayne Richardson (born 8 December 1946) is a former Australian rules footballer in the (then) Victorian Football League. Collingwood Football Club snared Wayne Richardson from South Fremantle Football Club in 1965 before he had made his senior debut and, not surprisingly, the West Australian side was extremely reluctant to clear him. Richardson was forced to stand out of football for the entire 1965 season before his clearance was ratified, but as far as the Magpies were concerned, it was worth the wait, as he would develop into one of the finest players in the club's history. A tough customer, and extremely skilful, he spent most of his 277-game, 323 goal VFL career between 1966 and 1978 as either a rover or ruck-rover, where his adeptness at reading the play enabled him to pick up countless possessions. Australian Football League
The Australian Football League (AFL) is the only fully professional competition of Australian rules football. Through the AFL Commission, the AFL also serves as the sport's governing body and is responsible for controlling the laws of the game. Originally known as the Victorian Football League (VFL), it was founded in 1896 as a breakaway competition from the Victorian Football Association (VFA), with its inaugural season commencing the following year. Mark Richardson (footballer)
Mark Richardson (born 31 October 1972) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with Collingwood in the Australian Football League (AFL). Recruited from Macleod, Richardson came from a strong footballing family. His father Wayne and uncle Max were both Collingwood players while Mark's grandfather Arnold was a West Australian interstate representative. Richardson played for Collingwood at under-age level before breaking into the senior's list. Used initially as a key forward, he managed 23 goals in his debut year, three on them on debut against the Brisbane Bears. He also kicked seven goals in a match against Sydney mid season and six more the week after. Injuries and inconsistent form restricted his appearances during the early part of his career but he was a regular fixture in the Collingwood team from 1995 to 2001. Fitzroy Football Club
The Fitzroy Football Club is an Australian rules football club currently competing in the Victorian Amateur Football Association (VAFA). Formed in 1883 to represent the inner-Melbourne municipality of Fitzroy, the club was a member of the Victorian Football Association (VFA), before becoming a foundation member of the breakaway Victorian Football League (VFL/AFL) in 1897. Fitzroy won a total of eight VFL premierships, of which seven (1898, 1899, 1904, 1905, 1913, 1916 and 1922) were won whilst they were nicknamed the Maroons and one (1944) as the Gorillas. Australian football, also called Australian rules football or Aussie rules, or more simply football or footy, is a contact sport played between two teams of 18 players on an oval field, often a modified cricket ground.
