Wavves
Wavves is an American rock band based in San Diego, California. Formed in 2008 by singer-songwriter Nathan Williams (born June 12, 1986), the band also features Alex Gates (guitar, backing vocals), Stephen Pope (bass guitar, backing vocals) and Ross Traver (drums and backing vocals). History Early years and early releases (2008–2009) Wavves started in 2008 as the recording project of Nathan Williams. Wavves released several 7"s as well as a cassette leading up to the first release, ''Wavves''. After gaining recognition, Ryan Ulsh was enlisted as a touring drummer and Wavves embarked on their first US and European tours. Wavves released their self-titled debut album in 2008, subsequently drawing the attention of Pitchfork Media. At the time, the band consisted of guitarist Nathan Williams and drummer Ryan Ulsh, who replaced Baby Animal during production. King Of The Beach (Wavves Album)
''King of the Beach'' is the third studio album by the American band Wavves. It was set to be released in the USA by Fat Possum Records and in the UK by Bella Union Records on August 3, 2010, but digital copies became available July 1 as a result of early leaks. ''Pitchfork'' placed it at number 50 on its list "The Top 50 Albums of 2010". Nathan Williams on Twitter has confirmed that most of the material from the album was originally demos that he had written with drummer Zach Hill of Hella and Death Grips. Album cover In interviews, Nathan Williams has stated that the album cover is a cartoon version of Snacks, his pet cat. A photo of Snacks was also featured on the cover of Best Coast's debut album, Crazy For You. Snacks died in February 2022, as confirmed on the band's Instagram page. Jacob Alonzo Cooper, also known as Jacob Safari, is an American musician, remixer, record producer, songwriter, and occasional DJ. Cooper has been a drummer of the bands Wavves, The Mae Shi, Cold Showers, Har Mar Superstar, and previously had a band called Bark Bark Bark. He currently has a project called Heaven, which first appeared in 2012. History Bark Bark Bark (2003-2013) Bark Bark Bark is an experimental, cut and paste electronic punk project formed by Cooper using the alias Jacob Safari. The project consists of Safari and guest artists and producers. Billy Hayes (musician)
Billy Hayes (born August 7, 1985) is an American musician and former drummer and back-up vocalist for Wavves and Jay Reatard. Hayes first performed in the Memphis hardcore punk band, That Was Then. Later he started playing in psychedelic pop bands MÜTZ, the Barbaras and the Boston Chinks, all based in Memphis, Tennessee. Hayes played drums in Jay Reatard's band from 2005 to 2009. While in Reatard's band, Hayes drummed on the Matador Singles Collection, Watch Me Fall, and a split 7-inch with Sonic Youth. Hayes and bandmate Stephen Pope quit in October 2009 before joining Wavves. In Wavves, he drummed, sang back-up vocals and wrote two songs on their third album '' King of the Beach'': "Convertible Balloon" and "Baby Say Goodbye", the album's closing track. Post Acid
"Post-Acid" is the lead single from Wavves' album '' King of the Beach''. It was made available digitally June 9, 2010 by Mountain Dew's label, Green Label Sound. Patrick O' Dell directed a video for the song, featuring an introduction by John Norris and a cameo by skateboarder Kevin Long as an alien. The video premiered on the Green Label Sound website August 26, 2010. Ghost Ramp is an American record label based in Los Angeles. It was founded by Wavves frontman Nathan Williams. The label started as a music blog, later expanding into a record label. It currently has nine artists signed, including Wavves and his side projects, Sweet Valley and Spirit Club. History Started in 2008, Ghost Ramp began as a music blog run by Williams. Cloud Nothings is an American indie rock band from Cleveland, Ohio, United States, founded by singer-songwriter Dylan Baldi. It currently consists of lead singer and guitarist Dylan Baldi, drummer Jayson Gerycz, bassist Noah Depew, and guitarist Chris Brown. Beginning in 2009, the band originally started as a solo project, with Baldi recording both vocals and instrumentals in his parents' basement, although he performed live with a full band. Tic Tac Totally
Tic Tac Totally was an independent record label run by Matt Clark in Chicago, Illinois. He also runs the "Dumb Audio" zine. Since forming in 2006 Tic Tac Totally has released over 50 records. The label has released LPs and 7"s by punk and garage rock bands such as the Wavves, Lost Sounds, The Pharmacy, and Fergus & Geronimo. The label has helped launch the careers of bands such as Fat Possum recording artists Thomas Function and Wavves, Dirtnap Records recording artist The Hussy, as well as helping established artists such as the Jay Reatard led project Lost Sounds. Zachary Charles Hill (born December 28, 1979) is an American multi-instrumentalist and visual artist. He is best known as the drummer and co-producer of the groups Death Grips and the I.L.Y's, and as the drummer of math rock band Hella. Art In addition to music, Hill is also a visual artist. He published a fully illustrated book, ''Destroying Yourself is Too Accessible,'' which included the Zach Hill and Holy Smokes album ''Masculine Drugs'' released in 2004 on TNI Books and Suicide Squeeze Records. Sasquatch! Music Festival was an annual music festival held at The Gorge Amphitheatre in George, Washington, United States. It took place on Memorial Day weekend, running for three to four days. In 2018, it was announced that the festival was canceled indefinitely and would not return in 2019. About the festival Sasquatch! typically featured a range of musical genres, with the emphasis being on indie rock bands and singer-songwriters, but also including alternative rock, hip hop, EDM, and comedy acts.
