Wantirna South Football Club
Wantirna South Football Club nicknamed the Devils, is an Australian rules football club located 26 km south east of Melbourne in the suburb of Wantirna. The teams wears a bottle-green playing jumper with two white stripes. Established in 1952 and situated at Walker Reserve Tyner Road in Wantirna South. Previously known as South Wantirna Football Club until 1997 when club merged with the Wantirna Junior Football Club. The Eastern Football Netball League (known previously as the Eastern Districts Football League and later the Eastern Football League) is an Australian rules football league, based in the eastern suburbs of metropolitan Melbourne. History The Eastern Districts Football League was established on 15 February 1962, but its origins can be traced back to the Reporter District Football League established in 1903. From 1927 until World War 2, the league was known as the Ringwood District Football League. It was known as the Croydon District Football League and the Croydon Mail Football League between World War 2 and 1949. In 1950 the league became known as the Croydon-Ferntree Gully League. Mac Andrew (born 4 December 2003) is a professional Australian rules footballer playing for the Gold Coast Suns in the Australian Football League (AFL). Early life Andrew was born in Cairo, Egypt, to South Sudanese parents. In 2005, at 18 months of age, he moved to Australia with his family. He began playing Australian rules football for Wantirna South at the under-9s level and later played at Berwick, he also played basketball throughout his upbringing. Andrew progressed through the junior football ranks before being selected to represent the Dandenong Stingrays in the NAB League. Aaron Young (born 6 December 1992) is a former professional Australian rules footballer who played for the Gold Coast Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). He was originally drafted by the Port Adelaide Football Club with pick number 36 in the 2010 national draft, having previously played for the Eastern Ranges in the TAC Cup. He made his debut in round 5, 2012, against at Football Park in Showdown XXXII. Early in his career, Young was used heavily as a substitute player. Already difficult to match up on due to his height and pace, Young would come on as a substitute later in the game and take advantage of his speed and fresh legs. Kieran McGuinness (born 8 July 1983) is an Australian rules footballer who formerly played with the Western Bulldogs in the Australian Football League (AFL). He was picked in the 2001 AFL Draft at pick 42. He made a sensational debut in his first year, kicking four goals against Essendon, but had limited opportunities from then on, playing 23 senior games to the end of the 2005 season. He played in the Victorian Football League (VFL) grand final in 2005 for the Bulldogs Werribee. He was delisted at the end of 2006. McGuinness then moved to Adelaide and played for Norwood in the South Australian National Football League (SANFL), where he wore number 13. In 2011 he won Norwood's Club Champion award with 69 votes. Australian football, also called Australian rules football or Aussie rules, or more simply football or footy, is a contact sport played between two teams of 18 players on an oval field, often a modified cricket ground. Points are scored by kicking the oval ball between the central goal posts (worth six points), or between a central and outer post (worth one point, otherwise known as a "behind").
