Waverley Football Club
Waverley Football Club, nicknamed the Panthers, were an Australian rules football club which played in the Victorian Football Association (VFA) from 1961 until 1987. Waverley wore red and black as their club colours and was based at Central Reserve in the Melbourne suburb of Glen Waverley, Victoria, Glen Waverley. History Waverley Football Club Waverley started out in the Caulfield-Oakleigh District League as the Glen Waverley Football Club, and in 1961 joined the newly formed VFA 2nd Division. Victorian Football Association
The Victorian Football League (VFL) is an Australian rules football league in Australia serving as one of the second-tier regional semi-professional competitions which sit underneath the fully professional Australian Football League (AFL). It includes teams from clubs based in the eastern states of Australia: Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland, and includes reserves teams for the east coast AFL clubs. The league evolved from the former Victorian Football Association (VFA), and it has been known by its current name since 1996. Chris Knights
Chris Knights (born 25 September 1986) is a former professional Australian rules footballer who played for the Adelaide Football Club and Richmond Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). AFL career Chris played his junior football with the Waverley Blues Football Club and also the Vermont Football Club before being selected to play for the Eastern Ranges in the TAC Cup. Knights, a dual Victorian Metropolitan under-18 representative (2003/04), was selected in the 2004 AFL Draft by the Adelaide Football Club with the 56th selection. Bret Thornton (born 15 November 1983) is a former professional Australian rules footballer who played for the Carlton Football Club and Greater Western Sydney Giants in the Australian Football League (AFL). The Southern Football Netball League is an Australian rules football league, based in the south and south eastern suburbs of Melbourne, Victoria, for both seniors and juniors. History The ''South East Suburban Football League'' was formed in 1963 as a merger of the Caulfield Oakleigh District Football League with the East Suburban Football League after a number of its clubs moved to the Croydon Ferntree Gully FL (now Eastern Football League). When the Federal Football League folded at the end of 1981, the SESFL had twenty clubs. Victorian Amateur Football Association
The Victorian Amateur Football Association (VAFA) is the largest senior community Australian rules football competition in Victoria. It consists of seven senior men's and women's divisions ranging from Premier to Division 4. In addition there are U19's sections and five Thirds sections, primarily made up of either clubs only able to field one team, or clubs from higher sections that can field a third team after their seniors and reserves. Albert Peter Smedts (born 9 January 1952) is a former Australian rules footballer who initially played for Narre Warren, then with Waverley in the VFA from 1972 to 1974. Ralph Rogerson
Ralph Rogerson (born 24 February 1937) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for Fitzroy Football Club, Fitzroy in the Australian Football League, Victorian Football League (VFL) during the 1960s. Rogerson started his career in the South Australian National Football League, where he played with North Adelaide Football Club, North Adelaide. A key position forward, he represented South Australia at the 1958 Melbourne Carnival. He then ventured to Western Australia and joined East Perth Football Club, East Perth and appeared in their losing 1961 West Australian National Football League Grand Final team. His VFL stint began in 1964 and he took part in each of Fitzroy's 18 games that season, all of which they lost. He kicked 27 goals for the year, which was enough to top the Fitzroy goal-kicking. Kevin Morris (Australian Footballer)
Kevin Morris (born 20 August 1951) is a former Australian rules football player who played in the Victorian Football League (VFL) between 1971 and 1976 for the Richmond Football Club and then from 1977 until 1981 for the Collingwood Football Club. He commenced his coaching career as Captain/Coach of Victorian Football Association (VFA) club Werribee in 1982 then went back to the VFL as Captain/Coach of the reserve side from 1983 to 1985, winning the premiership in his first season.
