Walter Peñaloza
Walter Peñaloza (1920–2005) was a Peruvian philosopher and educator recognised for his contribution to the professional training of Peruvian teachers. He studied at the former Anglo-Peruvian College in Lima, today the Colegio San Andrés . Later, while working as a teacher on the same campus, he won the First "Gonzales Prada" Prize in 1944, granted by the Directorate of Artistic Education Cultural Extension to the best philosophy work. Career He was Rector of the National University of Education (La Cantuta) and a professor at other universities in Peru and Venezuela (Zulia State, Maracaibo). He inspired the development of the "Integral Curriculum", a curricular model that promotes a formation in values, and a greater contact between the university and the professional workplace. His major contributions to Peruvian education were in the reform in university education. Lima
Lima ( ; ), originally founded as Ciudad de Los Reyes (City of The Kings) is the capital and the largest city of Peru. Colegio San Andrés
Colegio San Andrés is a private school located in Lima, Peru. History Dr. Mackay was given permission to found the Anglo-Peruvian School on July 13, 1917. In 1919 the primary school expanded into secondary education as well, changing its name to Colegio Anglo-Peruano. The school then consisted of 7 teachers and 271 pupils. In 1924, while the school was still located at its premises on the Plaza Francia, it merged with the American Institute (Peru), American Institute and became a boysonly institution. Through the initiative of Dr. W. Stanley Rycroft and with the collaboration of Dr. Alberto Arca Parró, a distinguished teacher at the school, the ''Leader'' magazine was founded in 1926. National University Of Education Enrique Guzmán Y Valle
The National University of Education Enrique Guzmán y Valle ( es, Universidad Nacional de Educación Enrique Guzmán y Valle), often called La Cantuta, is a university in the Lima area of Peru. The university specializes in education and administration. During the early 1990s, the university was placed under military control after receiving information that Shining Path and the Túpac Amaru Revolutionary Movement were operating inside and indoctrinating the students. On July 18, 1992, a professor and nine students from the university "disappeared" in what would come to be known as the La Cantuta massacre. The bodies of the victims were eventually discovered, and members of Grupo Colina were jailed for their participation in the massacre. Juan Velasco Alvarado
Juan Francisco Velasco Alvarado (June 16, 1910 – December 24, 1977) was a Peruvian general who served as the President of Peru after a successful coup d'état against Fernando Belaúnde's presidency in 1968. Under his presidency, nationalism, as well as left-leaning policies that addressed Indigenous Peruvians, such as nationalization or agrarian reform were adopted. These policies were reversed after another coup d'état in 1975 led by his Prime Minister, Francisco Morales-Bermúdez. Velasco had a confrontational foreign policy towards the United States, as he pushed for renegotiation of treaties and criticized what he perceived as a pernicious dependence of Latin American states on the United States.
