Walsall Cricket Club
{{Use British English, date=November 2019 Walsall Cricket Club is an amateur cricket club in Walsall, West Midlands, England, UK. Established in 1833, it originally trained and played games in the Chuckery area of Walsall. It then moved to one at Windmill in 1847 and remained there until around 1850. The Chuckery ground became used by another team called the Tradesmen's Cricket Club. The Walsall Cricket Club stopped playing between 1850 and 1851, and reformed in 1852 when it moved back to the ground at the Chuckery. It remained there until 1909 when a new ground was opened at Gorway. The club still occupied it until 1974. Their first and second XIs currently play in the Premier Division of the Birmingham and District Premier League, of which they are a founding member. They are also one of the most prominent cricket clubs in the country, winning the national club knockout cup in 1996, and being runners-up in 1991. Cricket Club
Zee Marathi is an Indian general entertainment channel which carries programming in Marathi language, Marathi. It is owned by Zee Entertainment Enterprises. The channel was launched on 15 August 1999 and was known as Alpha TV Marathi until 28 March 2005, then it was renamed as Zee Marathi. It is the first Marathi language, Marathi GEC channel. A HD version of this channel, Zee Marathi HD, was launched on 20 November 2016. Chuckery
Chuckery is a small suburb of Walsall located a mile from the town centre. Name The name "Chuckery" is believed to originate from the common medieval word to describe a poultry farming area. Demographics Chuckery has a diverse ethnic mix, with a large South Asian community; particularly first and second generation Pakistani immigrants. Comprising relatively inexpensive housing (predominantly Victorian and Edwardian terraces and five Tower Blocks), it is primarily a working class area. Since the Enlargement of the European Union in 2004, a growing number of Eastern Europeans, particularly from Swidnica, Poland, have settled in the area, mostly attracted to the manual and semi-skilled jobs in local light industry. Gorway Ground
Gorway Ground is a cricket ground in Walsall, Staffordshire. The first recorded match on the ground was in 1889, when Walsall Cricket Club played Wednesbury. The first Minor Counties Championship match was held at the ground in 1912 and saw Staffordshire played Durham. Staffordshire used the ground during a number of periods in the 20th century, using the ground for home matches up to 2007. During this time, the ground hosted 27 Minor Counties Championship matches and 5 MCCA Knockout Trophy matches. A combined Minor Counties team has used the ground for 2 List-A matches, the first of which came in the 1986 Benson and Hedges Cup against Warwickshire and the second of which came in the 1997 version of the competition against Lancashire. The NCCA 3 Day Championship (previously the Minor Counties Cricket Championship) is a season-long competition in England and Wales that is contested by the members of the National Counties Cricket Association (NCCA), the so-called national counties that do not have first-class status. History The competition began in 1895, with the Worcestershire honorary secretary Paul Foley being influential in its creation. Apart from the two World War periods, it has been contested annually ever since. From 2014 to 2019 the tournament was known as the Unicorns Championship.
