Waldemar Torenstra
Waldemar Govinda Torenstra (born 29 March 1974 in Amsterdam) is a Dutch actor. For several years he worked as an actor in the Noord Nederlands Toneel (NNT, English language, En: "North Netherlands Stage"), a touring theater company. Career After finishing his secondary education, Torenstra enrolled at the University of Amsterdam to study economics, but eventually chose theater instead. In 1999, he graduated from the Amsterdam Theater School. At the Noord Nederlands Toneel Torenstra acted in productions of ''Sympathy for the Devil'' (main character), ''Othello'' (Michael Cassio, Cassio), and ''Lenny Bruce''. In the fall of 2006, he played the leading role in a production of ''Moordspel'' ("Murder Game"). From 2012 to 2014, he served as the head of the jury for ShortCutz Amsterdam, an annual film festival promoting short films in Amsterdam. The film and eponymous television series is based on the novels of A. C. Baantjer and a prequel to the television series '' Baantjer'', based on the same novels. The Videoland version of the film was edited as a double episode (episodes 1 and 2 of the series). However, a number of scenes are missing in this version. The film won the Golden Film award two weeks later after having sold 100,000 tickets. Kurt Loyens also won the Golden Calf for Best Production Design award at the 2019 Netherlands Film Festival. ''Summer Heat'' () is a 2008 film directed by Monique van de Ven. Her first feature-length film, it is based on the 2005 book-week giveaway novella by Jan Wolkers. Wolkers, who died while the film was in post-production, also authored the story for van de Ven's first film as an actress, ''Turkish Delight'' (1973). Plot Photographer Bob Griffioen (Waldemar Torenstra) is in Afghanistan with his girlfriend when they witness rebels attacking a car.
