Wagener Stadium
Wagener Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium in Amstelveen, Netherlands. It is currently used mostly for field hockey matches and hosted matches for the 1973 World Hockey Cup. The stadium holds 7,600 people. The complex has belonged to the Dutch Hockey Association (''""'') since 1980. Its location is the Amsterdamse Bos in Amstelveen. It was built by the Amsterdam Hockey & Bandy Club to honour its president, (1881–1945). The building was completed in 1938, one year before World War II came to Netherlands. During the 1970s it became clear that AHBC could no longer afford the stadium, which was eventually sold to the Koninklijke Nederlandse Hockey Bond. AHBC still has the first right to play in the stadium. Amsterdamsche Hockey & Bandy Club (founded 28 January 1892) is the oldest field hockey club of the Netherlands, based in Amstelveen. AH&BC is also the largest field hockey club in the city (2286 members). The team is a powerhouse of both domestic and international hockey. Both its men's and women's teams are annual contenders for the Dutch titles. The men's team won its maiden European Cup in 2005. Originally, the club was also playing bandy, as is still reflected in the club's name. Hockey Champions Trophy
The Hockey Champions Trophy (HCT) was an international field hockey tournament held by the International Hockey Federation (FIH). History Founded in 1978 by Pakistan's Air Marshal Nur Khan and the Pakistan Hockey Federation, it featured the world's top-ranked field hockey teams competing in a round robin format. A biennial women's tournament was added in 1987. The Champions Trophy was changed from an annual to a biennial event from 2014 onwards, due to the introduction of the Hockey World League (HWL). The 2018 edition was the last edition of the Champions Trophy and the tournament was replaced by the Men's FIH Pro League and the Women's FIH Pro League in 2019. The 2009 Men's EuroHockey Nations Championship was the 12th edition of the EuroHockey Nations Championship, the biennial international men's field hockey championship of Europe organized by the European Hockey Federation. The 1983 Men's EuroHockey Nations Championship was the fourth edition of the Men's EuroHockey Nations Championship, the quadrennial international men's field hockey championship of Europe organized by the European Hockey Federation. It was held in Amstelveen, Netherlands from 18 to 28 August 1983. EuroHockey Nations Championship
The EuroHockey Nations Championship is an international men's field hockey competition organised by the European Hockey Federation (EHF) for the top eight European national teams. It is the top division of the EuroHockey Nations Championships. The tournament started in 1970. When the tournament is held close to the Summer Olympic games or the Hockey World Cup, the winner of the tournament is awarded a place in those competitions. Format Since 2005 the tournament is played in Divisions, normally consisting of 8 teams. The top division, containing the eight best national teams, is called the EuroHockey Championship, below which there is the EuroHockey Championship II, then the EuroHockey Championship III, then the EuroHockey Championship IV, and so on. The 2022 Women's FIH Hockey World Cup was the 15th edition of the Women's FIH Hockey World Cup, the quadrennial world championship for women's national field hockey teams organized by the International Hockey Federation. It was held from 1 to 17 July 2022 at the Estadi Olímpic de Terrassa in Terrassa, Spain and at the Wagener Stadium in Amstelveen, the Netherlands. The Men's FIH Hockey World Cup is an international field hockey competition organised by the International Hockey Federation (FIH). The tournament was started in 1971. It is held every four years, bridging the four years between the Summer Olympics. Pakistan is the most successful team, having won the tournament four times. The Netherlands and Australia have each won three titles, and Germany has won two titles. Belgium and India have both won the tournament once. The 2018 tournament was held in Bhubaneswar, India from 28 November to 16 December. Amsterdamse Bos
The Amsterdamse Bos (English: ''Amsterdam Forest'') is an English park or landscape park in the municipalities of Amstelveen and Amsterdam. Although most of the park is located in Amstelveen, the owner of the park is the City of Amsterdam. The park was mainly built in the early 1930s, mostly by the unemployment relief. Because of World War II interrupting the building process, the last tree was not planted until the 1970s. Annually, almost 4.5 million people visit the park, which has a size of and is approximately three times the size of Central Park in New York City. It houses a number of animal parks, sporting clubs, rowing courses, gardens and remembrance monuments.
