Wacker Burghausen II
The SV Wacker Burghausen II is a defunct German association football club from Burghausen, Bavaria. It was the reserve team of SV Wacker Burghausen. The team's greatest successes came in 2005 and 2012 when it qualified on both occasions for the Bayernliga, the fifth tier of the German football league system, where it played until 2014 when the club decided to withdraw the team from competition at the end of the season. History The team, for most part of its history, was just the reserve side of an amateur team and its rise began when the senior side began to rise through the ranks of Bavarian football. ''Wacker's'' first team earned promotion to the Bayernliga for the first time in 1993, followed by promotion to the Regionalliga. With the senior team going as far as the 2. Promotion And Relegation
In sports leagues, promotion and relegation is a process where teams are transferred between multiple divisions based on their performance for the completed season. Leagues that use promotion and relegation systems are often called open leagues. In a system of promotion and relegation, the best-ranked team(s) in the lower division are ''promoted'' to the higher division for the next season, and the worst-ranked team(s) in the higher division are ''relegated'' to the lower division for the next season. In some leagues, playoffs or qualifying rounds are also used to determine rankings. This process can continue through several levels of divisions, with teams being exchanged between adjacent divisions. The Landesliga Bayern sits at step 6 of the German football league system and is the third highest level in the Bavarian football league system, below the Bayernliga and organised in five regional divisions. The current Landesligas were formed in 1963, when the Bundesliga was established. From 2012, when the Regionalliga Bayern was established, the Landesligas were expanded from three to five divisions. The seven Bezirksoberligas Bayern were the third highest level of the Bavarian football league system, below the Bayernliga and the Landesliga Bayern from 1988 to 2012. They were the seventh tier of the German football league system. Until the introduction of the 3. Liga in 2008 it was the sixth tier of the league system, until the introduction of the Regionalligas in 1994 the fifth tier. The Landesliga Bayern-Süd ( en, State League Bavaria-South) was the sixth tier of the German football league system in southern Bavaria. Until the introduction of the 3. Liga (Third League) in 2008, it was the fifth tier of the league system, until the introduction of the Regionalligas in 1994 the fourth tier. The winner of the Landesliga Süd was automatically qualified for the Bayernliga, while the runners-up needed to compete with the runners-up of Landesliga Bayern-Mitte and Landesliga Bayern-Nord and the 15th-placed team of the Bayernliga for another promotion spot. The league was disbanded in 2012, when the Regionalliga Bayern was introduced as the new fourth tier of the German league system in Bavaria.
