History Early years The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) granted a construction permit to the Tallahassee Appliance Corporation on May 4, 1966, for a new FM radio station to broadcast to the city on 94.9 MHz. WGMY (107.1 FM) is a Top 40 (CHR) radio station in the Tallahassee, Florida, market owned by iHeartMedia. Its studios and transmitter are located separately on the northside of Tallahassee. History The station's original call-letters were WLOR - LOR for "Land of Roses". It morphed into country formatted "South 107" with call letters WSTT serving Thomasville and Thomas County, Georgia. Format background Mainstream rock stations represent the middle ground between classic rock and active rock on the programming spectrum, in that they play more classic rock songs from the 1970s and 1980s and fewer songs from emerging acts than active rock stations, and only rarely play songs on the softer edge of the classic rock format. They program a balanced airplay of tracks found on active rock and classic rock playlists, but the music playlist tends to focus on charting hard rock music from the 1970s through the 2000s. Quincy is a city in and the county seat of Gadsden County, Florida, United States. The population was 7,972 at the 2010 census, up from 6,982 at the 2000 census.
