Professional Squash Association
The Professional Squash Association (PSA) is the governing body for the men's and women's professional squash circuit. The body operates in a similar fashion to the ATP and the WTA for tennis. The PSA's highest professional level, the PSA World Tour involves over 200 tournaments annually around the world. Over 800 players from all the 5 continents (over 60 different countries represented ) are registered with the PSA and rankings are updated monthly based on players' performances. This article is a list of PSA women's number 1 ranked players in the Official Women's Squash World Ranking. The Official Women's Squash World Ranking are the Professional Squash Association's (PSA) merit-based method for determining the world rankings in women's squash. The top-ranked player is the player who, over the previous 12 months, has garnered the most PSA ranking points. Points are awarded based on how far a player advances in tournaments and the category of those tournaments. Official Women's Squash World Ranking
The Official Women's Squash World Ranking is the official world ranking for women's squash. The ranking is to rate the performance level of female professional squash player. It is also a merit-based method used for determining entry and seeding in women's squash tournaments. The rankings are produced monthly. The current world number one is Nouran Gohar of Egypt, who replaced Raneem El Welily in July 2020. The WISPA, the WSA and the PSA has used a computerized system for determining the rankings since April 1984. PSA ranking policy Players competing in PSA tournaments earn ranking points according to how far they get in the draw. The points available depend on the prize money and the draw size. Hania El Hammamy (born 1 September 2000 in Cairo) is an Egyptian professional squash player. She became a top seed in women's junior squash rankings at the age of 16. As of January 2022, she is ranked number 3 in the world. Biography El Hammamy initially pursued her interest in gymnastics but later began playing squash after being inspired by her brother Karim El Hammamy who is also a professional squash player. Sivasangari Subramaniam (born 24 January 1999, in Sungai Petani) is a Malaysian professional squash player. As of May 2022, she was ranked number 20 in the world. She became the 2018 British Junior Open Champion by defeating Satomi Watanabe. Personal life Sivasangari was born in Sungai Petani, Kedah to Valli Nagappan and Subramaniam Kaniappan. She started playing squash at the age of eight. She is a former student of SMK Sultanah Asma and obtained her GCE Ordinary Level from Kolej Tuanku Ja'afar. She is currently studying Bachelor of Science (Mass Communications/ Media Studies) at Cornell University. On 26 June 2022, she involved in a car accident along the Maju Expressway. The World Squash Championships are squash events for men and women organised by the Professional Squash Association. The men's event was first held in 1976 in London, England and the women's was inaugurated in 1976 in Brisbane, Australia. Overview The British Open had for many years been generally considered to be the sport's effective world championship, and this continued to be the case until the World Open (now called World Championship) was established. The women's World Championship was held once every two years until the early 1990s, when it became an annual event.
