WDWR (1230 AM) is a radio station broadcasting a Catholic radio format. Licensed to Pensacola, Florida, United States, the station serves the Pensacola area. The station is currently owned by La Promesa Foundation. History WEAR The station currently operating as WDWR began broadcasting as WEAR at 1490 kilohertz on April 1, 1947. It was Pensacola's third radio station, carrying programs of the Mutual Broadcasting System and owned by Gulfport Broadcasting Company, consisting of investors from Pensacola and Texas. The 250-watt outlet moved to 1230 on February 1, 1950. WEAR's affiliation soon changed to ABC, in time for WEAR to spawn a television station: WEAR-TV channel 3, which began telecasting January 13, 1954. Thomasville is a city in Clarke County, Alabama, United States. At the 2020 census, the population was 3,649. Founded as a late 19th-century railroad town, it has transitioned over the course of more than a century into a 21st-century commercial hub. Height above average terrain (HAAT), or (less popularly) effective height above average terrain (EHAAT), is the vertical position of an antenna site is above the surrounding landscape. HAAT is used extensively in FM radio and television, as it is more important than effective radiated power (ERP) in determining the range of broadcasts ( VHF and UHF in particular, as they are line of sight transmissions). Effective radiated power (ERP), synonymous with equivalent radiated power, is an IEEE standardized definition of directional radio frequency (RF) power, such as that emitted by a radio transmitter. It is the total power in watts that would have to be radiated by a half-wave dipole antenna to give the same radiation intensity (signal strength or power flux density in watts per square meter) as the actual source antenna at a distant receiver located in the direction of the antenna's strongest beam (main lobe).
