WAGR ADH Class
The WAGR ADH class was a four member class of diesel railcars operated by the Western Australian Government Railways. History As part of an order for 18 ADG class railcars for Perth suburban services, an additional four were ordered from Cravens, Sheffield with different interiors for country work with the first three delivered in June 1955 and the fourth in 1956. When demand warranted, they operated with an ACL compartment car as a trailer. They operated services from Perth to Miling, Wyalkatchem and Bunbury and from Geraldton to Cue. Following the withdrawal of the services they operated, they were transferred to Perth to operate alongside the ADGs. They were refitted with similar interiors to the ADGs in 1962/63. Cravens
Cravens Railway Carriage and Wagon Company Limited was a railway rolling stock builder in the Darnall district of Sheffield, England. Founded by brothers named Craven and known as Craven Brothers, later Cravens Limited, it remained a family business until John Brown & Company acquired a controlling shareholding in 1919. Its name was changed back to Cravens Limited in 1954 when it finally became a wholly owned subsidiary of John Brown. Ownership Craven Brothers was a British engineering firm started in 1853 by brothers William and John Craven that built large machine tools for railway and engineering workshops and later workshop and railway cranes. Western Australian Government Railways
Western Australian Government Railways (WAGR) was the operator of railway services in the state of Western Australia between October 1890 and June 2003. Owned by the state government, it was renamed a number of times to reflect extra responsibility for tram and ferry operations that it assumed and later relinquished. Westrail was the trading name of WAGR from September 1975 until December 2000, when the WAGR's freight division and the Westrail name and logo were privatised. Its freight operations were privatised in December 2000 with the remaining passenger operations transferred to the Public Transport Authority in July 2003. Railcar
A railcar (not to be confused with a railway car) is a self-propelled railway vehicle designed to transport passengers. The WAGR ADG class was an 18 member class of diesel railcars operated by the Western Australian Government Railways between 1954 and 1992. Miling
Miling is a small town in the Shire of Moora, north of Perth, Western Australia. At the , it had a population of 101. Miling is the terminus of the Clackline–Miling railway branch line 150 miles from Perth. This branch line originally started at Clackline, but after the changes to the Eastern Railway in 1966 commenced at West Toodyay. Miling is within the network known as the "wheatbins", which are areas served by the Wheatbelt railway lines of Western Australia. Old Bunbury Railway Station
The Old Bunbury railway station was the main railway station for Bunbury from 1894 until 1996. It was the terminus for the ''Australind'' passenger railway service from Perth. It was replaced in May 1985 by the current Bunbury Terminal in East Bunbury. History The original structure was constructed in the 1880s; the railway was not connected to Perth at that stage. On 14 November 1894, the first station opened as the terminus for the South Western Railway.
