Fritz Wächtler
Fritz Wächtler (7 January 1891 – 19 April 1945) was a Nazi Party official and politician who served as the ''Gauleiter'' of the eastern Bavarian administrative region of Gau Bayreuth. Trained as a primary school teacher, he also became head of the National Socialist Teachers League (NSLB) in 1935. During World War II he held the honorary rank of SS-''Obergruppenführer'' and was the Reich Defense Commissioner of Gau Bayreuth. Prone to alcoholic outbursts and unpopular with the local residents, he eventually ran afoul of Martin Bormann in a political intrigue. Wächtler was executed on orders from Führer Headquarters near the end of the war on 19 April 1945. Early life Fritz Wächtler was born in 1891 in Triebes, in the Principality of Reuss-Gera (present-day Thuringia), the son of a watchmaker. Elfriede Lohse-Wächtler
Elfriede Lohse-Wächtler (born ''Anna Frieda Wächtler''; 4 December 1899 – 31 July 1940) was a German painter of the avant-garde whose works were banned as "degenerate art", and in some cases destroyed, in Nazi Germany. She became mentally ill and was murdered in a former psychiatric institution at Sonnenstein castle in Pirna under Action T4, a forced euthanasia program of Nazi Germany. Since 2000, a memorial center for the T4 program in the house commemorates her life and work in a permanent exhibition. Life Elfriede Lohse-Wächtler grew up in a middle-class family, but left at the age of 16 to study at the Royal Arts School Dresden from 1915 to 1918 (fashion, then applied graphics). From 1916 to 1919, she also attended drawing and painting courses at the Dresden Art Academy. Eberhard Wächtler
Eberhard Wächtler (10 May 1929 – 22 September 2010) was a Germans, German Economic history, economic historian. He was particularly notable for research in coal and steel sciences in postwar Germany. Wächtler was born in Dresden, Weimar Republic, in 1929. After graduating from high school in 1947, he studied history, literature, philosophy and political economy at the University of Leipzig. In 1953 he graduated with a degree in history. He first worked as a research assistant in Leipzig, after which he worked as a research associate at the Institute of History of the German Academy of Sciences at Berlin until 1962. He received his doctorate in 1957 on the subject of the history of the condition miners in the coal district of Saxony-Lugau Ölsnitz from 1889-1914. He completed his habilitation in 1968 at the University of Rostock, with work on historical traditions in the German mining industry from 1807 to 1871. Leopold Wächtler (1896–1988) was a German artist known for his prints, portraiture and silhouettes. Wächtler was born in 1896 in Penig, Saxony, in the German Empire. He studied with Alois Kolb in Leipzig and went on study visits to Paris, Spain, Italy, North Africa, the Balkans and Switzerland. Particularly notable are his signed woodcuts of Franz Liszt, Johann Heinrich Pestalozzi, Gerhart Hauptmann, Johannes Brahms and Felix Mendelssohn.
