WYSE (970 AM) is a radio station located in Canton, North Carolina, that simulcasts WISE's sports format from Asheville, North Carolina. Owned by the Asheville Radio Group subsidiary of Saga Communications, the station is licensed by the Federal Communications Commission to broadcast with 5,000 Watts of power during the day and 30 Watts at night. The station is an affiliate of the Atlanta Braves radio network, the largest radio affiliate network in Major League Baseball. History 970 AM signed on in 1954 as WWIT (call letters stood for "W"here "W"heels of "T"urn). WWIT was daytime-only and broadcast with only 1,000 watts. Arthur Bambridge Wyse
Arthur Bambridge Wyse (June 25, 1909 – June 8, 1942) was an American astronomer. He was killed in a U.S. Navy airship accident during World War II. Biography Wyse was born in Blairstown, Iowa, the son of Charles M. Wyse and Celia J. Bambridge. His father was a Prebyterian minister. At the age of sixteen, he matriculated to the private liberal arts College of Wooster in Ohio. While there, he received the John H. Moreland prize for his work in Greek studies, and was elected to the Phi Beta Kappa honor society. At Wooster, Wyse met his future wife, Marylyn Crandell. He graduated in 1929 with an A.B. ''cum laude'', then went work as an accountant for the Bell Telephone Company for a year. Wyse entered graduate school at the University of Michigan, where he decided on Astronomy as his profession. Bodmin was the name of a parliamentary constituency in Cornwall from 1295 until 1983. Initially, it was a parliamentary borough, which returned two Members of Parliament to the House of Commons of England and later the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom until the 1868 general election, when its representation was reduced to one member. Kendall Gender is the stage name of Kenneth Wyse (born 16 July 1990), a Canadian drag performer most known for competing on season 2 of '' Canada's Drag Race'' in 2021. She returned to compete in '' Canada's Drag Race: Canada vs. the World'' in 2022. Early life Wyse was raised in Richmond, British Columbia. He graduated from Henry James Cambie Secondary School in 2008 before attending Kwantlen Polytechnic University. Career Wyse chose the drag name Kendall Gender as a reference to reality television personality Kendall Jenner, although for the Snatch Game episode of ''Canada's Drag Race'', she chose to impersonate Kris Jenner. Her first time in drag was in 2014, where she performed Beyonce's " Ring the Alarm". Kendall Gender won the Vancouver's Next Drag Superstar competition in 2017. Peter Sherlock Wyse Jackson (born 7 June 1955) is an Irish botanist and environmentalist. He is president of the Missouri Botanical Garden, and holder of the George Engelmann chair in botany at Washington University in St. Louis. Early life Wyse Jackson was born in Kilkenny, Ireland on 7 June 1955 to Robert Wyse Jackson and Lois Margery (née Phair). His father was Bishop of Limerick, Ardfert and Aghadoe and Dean of Cashel. Sir Thomas Wyse (24 December 1791 – 16 April 1862), an Irish politician and diplomat, belonged to a family claiming descent from a Devon squire, Andrew Wyse, who is said to have crossed over to Ireland during the reign of Henry II and obtained lands near Waterford, of which city thirty-three members of the family are said to have been mayors or other municipal officers: one, John Wyse, was Chief Baron of the Irish Exchequer in the 1490s.
