Wyong, New South Wales
Wyong () is a town in the Central Coast of New South Wales, located approximately 63 km SSW of Newcastle and 89 km NNE of Sydney. Established in 1888, it is one of the two administrative centres for the local government area. History Wyong is an indigenous word meaning either 'an edible yam' or 'place of running water'. William Cape was the first European settler to settle in the area and bring cattle and sheep into the district, on a land grant bordering Jilliby Creek in 1825. Cape had two sons who also held land grants. Central Coast (New South Wales)
The Central Coast is a peri-urban region in New South Wales, Australia, lying on the Tasman Sea coast to the north of Sydney and south of Newcastle. The local government area of the Central Coast Council has an estimated population of 333,627 as of June 2018, growing by 1% annually. Comprising localities such as Gosford, Wyong and Terrigal, the area is the third-largest urban area in New South Wales and the ninth-largest urban area in Australia. 2016 Australian Census
The 2016 Australian census was the 17th national population census held in Australia. The census was officially conducted with effect on Tuesday, 9 August 2016. The total population of the Commonwealth of Australia was counted as – an increase of 8.8 per cent or people over the . Norfolk Island joined the census for the first time in 2016, adding 1,748 to the population. The ABS annual report revealed that $24 million in additional expenses accrued due to the outage on the census website. Results from the 2016 census were available to the public on 11 April 2017, from the Australian Bureau of Statistics website, two months earlier than for any previous census. Tuggerah Lake
Tuggerah Lake, an intermittently open intermediate wave dominated barrier estuary that is part of the Tuggerah Lakes, is located within the local government area in the Central Coast region of New South Wales, Australia. Kanwal is a suburb of the Central Coast region of New South Wales, Australia. It is part of the local government area and is approximately 90 km north of Sydney, 55 km south of Newcastle and 6 km west of the Pacific Ocean. Pacific Highway is a national highway and major transport route along the central east coast of Australia, with the majority of it being part of Australia's Highway 1. Wyong Railway Station
Wyong railway station is located on the Main Northern line in New South Wales, Australia. It serves the northern Central Coast suburb of Wyong. History Wyong station was opened on 15 August 1887. In 1912, the line was duplicated. In 1937, the eastern platform was converted to an island platform. A pair of passing loops were added south of the station in 1948. In the 1950s, a new bridge was built over Wyong Creek immediately south of the station, with the old railway bridge becoming part of the Pacific Highway. Between April 1982 and June 1984, Wyong was the northern extremity of the electrified network. A brick building on Platforms 1 and 2 was replaced by the current structure in the 1990s.
