Wyoming Highway 350
Wyoming Highway 350 (WYO 350) is a east-west Wyoming state road located in southeastern Sublette County. It acts as a spur from U.S. Route 189 (US 189) in Big Piney west toward the Bridger-Teton National Forest. Route description Wyoming Highway 350 begins its western end near the Bridger-Teton National Forest at CR 111 five miles west of Big Piney. Highway 350 picks up the name Middle Piney Road and travels east reaching Big Piney at a little over 3.5 miles. WYO 350 enters on Piney Drive before turning south onto N. Nichols Street. And then once again turns east onto Budd Avenue before reaching its eastern terminus at U.S. Route 189 (Front Street). Big Piney, Wyoming
Big Piney is a town in Sublette County, Wyoming, United States. The population was 552 at the 2010 census. History Big Piney is the oldest settlement in Sublette County. It was founded in 1879, when rancher Daniel B. Budd and his partner Hugh McKay came with a thousand head of cattle from Nevada hoping to ship them, but got caught instead in severe winter weather in the Green River Valley. The following year, Dan Budd relocated his family to what is now known as Big Piney. The town was named after Big Piney Creek. The creek took its name from the pine trees growing along the banks of the creek. Cattle and oil have traditionally been the two primary industries for the area. The Wardell Buffalo Trap, a canyon used by Native Americans to trap bison, is in the vicinity of Big Piney. Its potential archeological value led to its listing on the National Register of Historic Places in 1971. Sublette County, Wyoming
Sublette County is a county in the U.S. state of Wyoming. As of the 2020 United States Census, the population was 8,728. The county seat is Pinedale. It is a sparsely populated rural county in western Wyoming, along the Green River. History Sublette County was created February 15, 1921, of land partitioned from Fremont and Lincoln counties. Its governing organization was completed by 1923. Before settlement, the western Wyoming mountains were traversed and harvested by fur trappers and traders. Sublette County is named for one of those early characters, William Lewis Sublette. Today the county celebrates its fur trade heritage with the Museum of the Mountain Man in Pinedale. In the early 1900s the majority of the population in what is today Sublette County were first generation immigrants from England and Germany. Spur Route
A spur route is a short road forming a branch from a longer, more important road such as a freeway, Interstate Highway, or motorway. A bypass or beltway should not be considered a true spur route as it typically reconnects with another or the same major road.
