Wyoming Highway 235
Wyoming Highway 235 (WYO 235) is a Wyoming state road located in northeastern Lincoln County, Wyoming with a small, section in extreme southern Sublette County, Wyoming. Route description Wyoming Highway 235 begins its southeastern end at U.S. Route 189 (Main Street) in La Barge. From there, Highway 235 travels northwesterly from La Barge toward the community of Calpet as it primarily serves the oil refineries in the area. WYO 235 crosses into Sublette County at approximately 3.89 miles as it reaches the community of Calpet. At 4.49 miles WYO 235 ends as Sublette CR 134 takes over heading north. The Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) is a government agency charged with overseeing transportation infrastructure for the U.S. state of Wyoming. La Barge, Wyoming
La Barge is a town in Lincoln County, Wyoming, United States. The population was 551 at the 2010 census. It is approximately 20 miles from Big Piney. The area around La Barge is rich in oil fields, and the town has one bar and four churches. History The town is named for Joseph Marie La Barge, Senior a French-Canadian voyageur turned fur trapper, mountain man, and steamboat operator, and father of the famed riverboat captain Joseph LaBarge. He was born in L'Assomption, Quebec, on 4 July 1787, and came to the U.S. in 1808 canoeing to St. Louis, Missouri, where he met and married a woman of Spanish and French descent, Eulalie Becquette Alvarez-Hortiz. Calpet is an unincorporated community in Sublette County, Wyoming, United States. The population was 7 at the 2000 census, when it was a census-designated place (CDP). The community was named for the California Petroleum Company. Geography Calpet is located at (42.283324, -110.273239). Sublette County is a county in the U.S. state of Wyoming. As of the 2020 United States Census, the population was 8,728. The county seat is Pinedale. It is a sparsely populated rural county in western Wyoming, along the Green River. History Sublette County was created February 15, 1921, of land partitioned from Fremont and Lincoln counties. Its governing organization was completed by 1923. Before settlement, the western Wyoming mountains were traversed and harvested by fur trappers and traders. Sublette County is named for one of those early characters, William Lewis Sublette. Today the county celebrates its fur trade heritage with the Museum of the Mountain Man in Pinedale.
