Edwin Richard Wyndham-Quin, 3rd Earl of Dunraven and Mount-Earl KP PC (19 May 1812 – 6 October 1871) was an Irish peer, Member of Parliament, and archaeologist. He was styled Viscount Adare from 1824 to 1850. The son of Windham Quin, 2nd Earl of Dunraven and Mount-Earl, he succeeded to the Earldom on the death of his father in 1850. Along with George Petrie, Lord Dunraven is credited with "laying the foundations of a sound school of archaeology" in Ireland. Family Born on 19 May 1812, in Westminster, Dunraven was the only son of Windham Henry Quin (1782–1850), later the second earl, and of Caroline Wyndham, the daughter and heiress of Thomas Wyndham of Dunraven Castle, Glamorganshire. From her father she inherited the Wyndham estate in Glamorganshire and also property in Gloucestershire. Thady Windham Thomas Wyndham-Quin, 7th Earl of Dunraven and Mount-Earl (27 October 1939 – 25 March 2011) was an Irish peer. Early life He was educated at Ludgrove School and Institut Le Rosey, Switzerland. While a schoolboy, he was disabled by polio. He succeeded to the earldom in 1965 on the death of his father, Richard Wyndham-Quin, 6th Earl of Dunraven.''Who's Who 2007'' (A. & C. Black Ltd, London, 2007) Career Lord Dunraven sold Adare Manor and its contents in 1984 to Irish-American businessman Tom Kane, and the manor was converted into the Adare Manor Hotel. Richard Southwell Windham Robert Wyndham-Quin, 6th Earl of Dunraven and Mount-Earl, (18 May 1887 – 28 August 1965) was an Irish peer. The son of Windham Wyndham-Quin, 5th Earl of Dunraven and Mount-Earl, he succeeded to the Earldom in 1952 on the death of his father. Biography Lord Dunraven fought in World War I where he was wounded and mentioned in despatches. He gained the rank of Captain in the 12th Royal Lancers and was awarded the Military Cross (MC). Dunraven was appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in 1921 and Companion of the Order of the Bath (CB) in 1923. Marriages and children Lord Dunraven married firstly Helen Lindsay Swire on 20 October 1915. They had no children and were divorced in 1932.
