Thomas Wyndham Of Felbrigg
Sir Thomas Wyndham of Felbrigg (c.1466 – c.1522) was an English sea captain and Vice-Admiral of England. He was born in Bolton, Yorkshire, the son of Sir John Wyndham and Margaret, daughter of Sir John Howard, 1st Duke of Norfolk. Career He became a counsellor to King Henry VIII, who in 1512 appointed him Captain. His cousin Admiral Edward Howard. When war broke out in May 1512 Wyndham took part under Howard in the seaborne raid at Crozon on the Brittany Coast and was afterwards knighted by Howard. He accompanied King Henry as a Knight of the Body at the sieges of Thérouanne and Tournay later in the year. He was next made captain of the ''John Baptist'' in 1513 and Fleet Treasurer. He was promoted Vice-Admiral of England the same year and the following year made captain of the ''Henry Grace à Dieu''. Sir William Wyndham, 3rd Baronet
Sir William Wyndham, 3rd Baronet (c. 168817 June 1740), of Orchard Wyndham in Somerset, was an English Tory politician who sat in the House of Commons from 1710 to 1740. He served as Secretary at War in 1712 and Chancellor of the Exchequer in 1713 during the reign of the last Stuart monarch, Queen Anne (1702–1714). He was a Jacobite leader firmly opposed to the Hanoverian succession and was leader of the Tory opposition in the House of Commons during the reign of King George I (1714–1727) and during the early years of King George II (1727–1760). His first wife was Lady Catherine Seymour, the younger of the two daughters of Charles Seymour, 6th Duke of Somerset (died 1748), and in her children by Wyndham, heiress to half of the vast estates, including Petworth House in Sussex and Egremont Castle in Cumberland, formerly held by the extinct Percy family, Earls of Northumberland. Charles Wyndham (1638–1706)
Sir Charles Wyndham (1638 – 1706) was an English politician who served as a Whig Member of Parliament from 1679 to 1701. Family Wyndham's birthdate is unrecorded, but he was baptised 2 April 1638. He was the fourth but second surviving son of Sir Edmund Wyndham (-1681), and Christabella, daughter of Hugh Pyne of Cathanger, Fivehead, Somerset. Christabella was the wet nurse for the future King Charles II and considered one of the most beautiful women of her day. Charles William Wyndham
Charles William Wyndham (8 October 1760 – 1 July 1828) was an English politician. He was the third son of Charles Wyndham, 2nd Earl of Egremont and Alicia Maria, daughter of the 2nd Baron Carpenter, and brother of Hon. Percy Charles Wyndham. He was educated at Westminster School from 1767 to 1775, and in 1801 he married Lady Anna Barbara Frances Child Villiers, daughter of the 4th Earl of Jersey and widow of William Henry Lambton of Lambton, County Durham. They had no children. According to some, he "proposed marriage to a gentlewoman one day, married her the next and parted from her the day after" so offspring would have been unlikely. At the 1790 general election Charles and his older brother Percy were returned as the two Members of Parliament (MPs) for Midhurst, a pocket borough in West Sussex which had recently been purchased by their oldest brother George, the 3rd Earl of Egremont. Sir Wadham Wyndham (29 October 1609 – 24 December 1668), of Ilton, Somerset and St. Edmund’s College, Salisbury, was a Justice of the King's Bench from 1660 to 1668. Origins He was born at Orchard Wyndham, Somerset, the ninth son of Sir John Wyndham (1558–1645) of Orchard Wyndham, by his wife, Joan Portman, daughter of Sir Henry Portman of Orchard Portman, Somerset. He was named after the family of his grandmother, Florence Wadham (d.1596), sister and in her issue co-heiress, of Nicholas Wadham (d.1609), of Merryfield, Ilton, founder of Wadham College, Oxford. Sir Hugh Wyndham SL (1602 – 24 December 1684), of Silton, near Gillingham, Dorset, was an English Judge of the Common Pleas and a Baron of the Exchequer. Origins He was born at Orchard Wyndham, Somerset, the eighth son of Sir John Wyndham (1558–1645) of Orchard Wyndham, by his wife Joan Portman, daughter of Sir Henry Portman (d.1590) of Orchard Portman, Somerset. His younger brother was the judge Sir Wadham Wyndham (d.1668).
