The Wycliffe Christian School (abbreviated as WCS) is an independent non-denominational Christian co-educational early learning, primary and secondary day school, located in Warrimoo, in the Blue Mountains region of New South Wales, Australia. History The Wycliffe Christian School started in 1976 as a small school of 28 students based in a church hall in Warrimoo. It then also made use of a church hall in Mt Riverview until 1979 when the whole school moved into the Warrimoo campus in Rickard Road. It was originally called ''John Wycliffe Christian School'', named after John Wycliffe, the man who translated the bible from Latin to English in 1382. Since moving to the Warrimoo location, the school has had six major renovations, the last of which being the construction of a multi million dollar Administration Office in 2013. Warrimoo (formerly Karabah) is a medium-sized village in the lower Blue Mountains of New South Wales, Australia, 273 metres above sea level. The state government's electorate is Blue Mountains and the state member is Labor's Trisha Lee Doyle. Federally, the electorate is Macquarie and the federal member is Labor's Susan Templeman. Cloud Control was an Australian alternative rock band, originating from the Blue Mountains near Sydney, Australia. The band was signed to the Australian record label Ivy League Records, on which they released their first album, '' Bliss Release''. They were also signed to Infectious Music in the UK and Europe, Humming Records in Germany, and to Votiv in North America. John Wycliffe
John Wycliffe (; also spelled Wyclif, Wickliffe, and other variants; 1328 – 31 December 1384) was an English scholastic philosopher, theologian, biblical translator, reformer, Catholic priest, and a seminary professor at the University of Oxford. He became an influential dissident within the Catholic priesthood during the 14th century and is considered an important predecessor to Protestantism. Wycliffe questioned the privileged status of the clergy, who had bolstered their powerful role in England, and the luxury and pomp of local parishes and their ceremonies. Wycliffe advocated translation of the Bible into the common vernacular.
