The Hamburg-Altona–Kiel railway ( da, link=no, Christian VIII. Steinburg
Steinburg () is a district in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, administered from Itzehoe. It is bounded by (from the west and clockwise) the districts of Dithmarschen, Rendsburg-Eckernförde, Segeberg and Pinneberg, and by the Elbe River (and the district of Stade beyond). History The district's name is derived from a medieval castle called Steinburg, where the reeves ruled by order of their lords, the dukes of Holstein. This castle was first mentioned in 1307, and it was abandoned and demolished in 1630. However, Steinburg remained the name of the region, and its new centre became Glückstadt before gradually moving to the town of Itzehoe. When Schleswig-Holstein became a province of Prussia in 1867, the district of Steinburg was established. Altona-Kiel Railway Company
The Altona-Kiel Railway Company (german: Altona-Kieler Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft, AKE) was a joint-stock company, established under the law of Denmark in personal union with the Duchy of Holstein, that built and operated an 105 km railway line between Altona and the Baltic Sea port city of Kiel. Altona was at that time the second largest city under Danish rule and the railway line was the first built in Danish-controlled territory. Formation Background The company was founded in December 1840 on the initiative of merchants from Altona and Kiel. Among the initiators in Kiel were Georg Hanssen and Johann Christian Kruse. Hamburg-Altona (or simply Altona) is a railway station in Hamburg, Germany, situated to the west of the city's main station, in the district which bears its name. A main line terminal station, most Intercity-Express (ICE) services to and from southern Germany begin and terminate at Hamburg-Altona. Pinneberg Station
Pinneberg station is a railway station on the Hamburg-Altona–Kiel line and located in Pinneberg, Germany, and served by the city trains and regional trains. It is a terminus for the rapid transit trains of the line S3 of the Hamburg S-Bahn. Station layout The station is at-grade and has two exits, the main exit with a bus stop and a taxicab stand. The second exit is to the park and ride facility, this exit is through a pedestrian underpass and has no lift. The railway station has a long island platform with the tracks 4 and 5 for the regional trains. Track 1 and track 2 have side platforms for the suburban or city trains. Elmshorn Station
Elmshorn station is a railway station in Elmshorn in Schleswig-Holstein. Here the Hamburg-Altona–Kiel railway (R70) meets the Marsh Railway (R60). Elmshorn is also the terminus of the A3 line of the AKN Eisenbahn. That makes it the third-busiest station in Schleswig-Holstein. The Deutsche Bahn classifies it as a category 3 station and Elmshorn station is in the Hamburger Verkehrsverbund. Neumünster station is the main railway station of the town of Neumünster in the German state of Schleswig-Holstein. It is at the junction of lines to Flensburg, Heide, Hamburg-Altona, Kiel, Bad Oldesloe, Kaltenkirchen and until 1985 Ascheberg.
