Wrekin College
Wrekin College is an independent co-educational boarding and day school located in Wellington, Shropshire, England. It was founded by Sir John Bayley in 1880 and is known as ‘The School in the Garden’ owing to its extensive grounds and playing fields. Part of the Allied Schools, it is also a member of the Headmasters' and Headmistresses' Conference. History The school was founded in 1880 as Wellington College by Sir John Bayley. In 1915 less than 100 acres (0.40 km2) of the Lilleshall Hall estate were purchased from the Duke of Sutherland, who retained the Hall and 50 acres (200,000 m2). In 1920, it was sold to the Revd Percy Warrington, a Church of England clergyman and renamed Wrekin College. The Rev. Canon Guy Pentreath was a notable headmaster from 1943 to 1952. Harry Andrews
Harry Stewart Fleetwood Andrews, CBE (10 November 1911 – 6 March 1989) was an English actor known for his film portrayals of tough military officers. His performance as Regimental Sergeant Major Wilson in ''The Hill'' (1965) alongside Sean Connery earned Andrews the National Board of Review Award for Best Supporting Actor and a nomination for the 1966 BAFTA Award for Best British Actor. Bryan Jones (cricketer)
John Bryan Richardson Jones (born 21 May 1961) is a former English cricketer. Jones was a left-handed batsman who bowled right-arm medium pace. He was born in Shrewsbury, Shropshire, and educated at Wrekin College. Jones made a single appearance for England Young Cricketers against the West Indies Young Cricketers in 1980. He made his debut for Shropshire in the 1981 Minor Counties Championship against Staffordshire. Jones played Minor counties cricket for Shropshire from 1981 to 2002, which included 116 Minor Counties Championship appearances and 39 MCCA Knockout Trophy appearances. He made his List A debut against Somerset in the 1983 NatWest Trophy. Barry John Richardson Jones (born 2 November 1955) is a former English cricketer who played first-class and List A cricket for Worcestershire between 1976 and 1980. Jones was born in Shrewsbury, Shropshire and educated at Wrekin College.Published under Association of Cricket Statisticians and Historians. Jones made his first-class debut against Oxford University at The University Parks in late May 1976. Although he made only 10 and 4 from number two in the order, he was retained for the County Championship match which immediately followed. Robert Paul Warman (born 11 October 1946) is an English retired television presenter. Field Marshal Peter Anthony Inge, Baron Inge, (5 August 1935 – 20 July 2022) was a senior British Army officer. Brian Epstein
Brian Samuel Epstein (; 19 September 1934 – 27 August 1967) was a British music entrepreneur who managed the Beatles from 1962 until his death in 1967. Epstein was born into a family of successful retailers in Liverpool, who put him in charge of their music shop, where he displayed a gift for talent-spotting. He first met the Beatles in 1961 at a lunchtime concert at Liverpool's Cavern Club.
