World Wide Live
''World Wide Live'' is a live album by German rock band Scorpions, released in 1985. The original audio recording was produced by Dieter Dierks. A VHS was released at the same time with footage of Scorpions' world tour. The live album was originally released as a 2LP vinyl set, in a gatefold-sleeve, and a cassette. The liner notes contain a crew member list, tour date information and when the shows were recorded: *Bercy, Paris, France (1984-02-29) *The Forum, Los Angeles, CA, USA (1984-04-24 & 1984-04-25) *Sports Arena, San Diego, CA, USA (1984-04-26) *Pacific Amphitheatre, Costa Mesa, CA, USA (1984-04-28) *Sporthalle, Cologne, West Germany (1984-11-17) The initial CD release featured 15 tracks (dropping "Another Piece of Meat", "Six-String Sting" and "Can't Get Enough", parts 1 & 2, due to time constraints), but the remastered edition of 1997 features the original album in full. Martin Popoff
Martin Popoff (born April 28, 1963) is a Canadian music journalist, critic and author. He is mainly known for writing about the genre of heavy metal music. The senior editor and co-founder of ''Brave Words & Bloody Knuckles'', he has additionally written over twenty books that both critically evaluate heavy metal and document its history. He has been called "heavy metal's most widely recognized journalist" by his publisher. Popoff lives in Toronto, Ontario. Considered by some critics to be the pinnacle of their career, ''Lovedrive'' was a major evolution of the band's sound, exhibiting their "classic style" that would be later developed over their next few albums. ''Lovedrive'' cemented the "Scorpions formula" of hard rock songs combined with melodic ballads. ''Blackout'' is the eighth studio album by German rock band Scorpions. It was released in 1982 on Harvest Records and Mercury Records. In the US, the album was certified gold on 24 June 1982 and platinum on 8 March 1984 by RIAA. ''Rolling Stone'' ranked ''Blackout'' as 73rd on their list of "The 100 Greatest Metal Albums of All Time" in 2017. Background After losing his voice during the writing of the album lead singer Klaus Meine had to undergo surgery on his vocal cords and was uncertain as to whether or not he would be able to record. Demos of the material were recorded with singer Don Dokken. However none of those recordings are featured on the album and Dokken is only credited with backing vocals. Herman Rarebell
Herman Rarebell (born 18 November 1949 as Hermann Josef Erbel) is a German musician, best known as the drummer for the hard rock band Scorpions from 1977 to 1995, during which time he played on eight studio albums. Aside from playing drums, Rarebell wrote or co-wrote several songs for the group such as "Another Piece of Meat", "Falling in Love" and "Passion Rules the Game". He composed the lyrics for some of the band's most well known songs such as "Rock You Like a Hurricane", "Make It Real", "Dynamite", "Blackout", "Arizona", "Bad Boys Running Wild", "Don't Stop at the Top", and "Tease Me Please Me". Herman Rarebell received his education in the subjects drums and piano at the Musikhochschule Saarbrücken. Rudolf Schenker
Rudolf Schenker (born 31 August 1948) is a German guitarist and founder of the hard rock band Scorpions. He is the rhythm guitarist, primary songwriter and longest-serving original member of the band. He is also the CEO/owner-manager of the Scorpions Musik-Produktions-und Verlagsgesellschaft mbH (Scorpions music production and publishing company) and owner/founder of the Scorpio-Sound-Studios in Lower Saxony. Matthias Jabs
Matthias Jabs (born 25 October 1955) is a German guitarist and songwriter. He is best known for being the lead guitarist in the hard rock band Scorpions. He has played on all but the first five Scorpions studio albums starting with ''Lovedrive'' (1979). He has a music store, MJ Guitars, in Munich, Germany. Career Jabs was discovered by Scorpions' bassist Francis Buchholz, who had tutored him in mathematics to earn extra money while still in school.
